UPDATE: Virtual Desktop no longer requires the patch to stream PCVR games! Skip any SideQuest or ADB steps, as they're no longer necessary!

A popular application for Quest, Virtual Desktop ($19.99 US) , has the ability to stream your SteamVR and Oculus Rift game to your Oculus Quest to play with low latency and total wireless freedom. This functionality is achieved by installing a free update from a Quest game store called SideQuest while in developer mode.

This Step-By-Step guide will help you to easily install this update and play Anyland completely wirelessly.

Overview
How this works
A popular application for Quest, Virtual Desktop ($19.99 US) , has the ability to stream your SteamVR and Oculus Rift game to your Oculus Quest to play with low latency and total wireless freedom. This functionality is achieved by installing a free update from a Quest game store called SideQuest while in developer mode.

This Step-By-Step guide will help you to easily install this update and play Anyland completely wirelessly.

Note: You should already have SteamVR installed at this point. If you have not yet installed it, please do so in the Steam desktop application.
[SKIP IF RECENT INSTALLATION] 1. Enabling Developer Mode
To install unverified applications on your Oculus Quest, you will need to enable developer mode. This will allow you to play games from SideQuest or install updates to your apps to add unofficial functionality.

Creating a Developer Organization
To enable developer mode, you must be part of an Oculus developer organization. However, you will be creating a dummy organization that allows you to gain developer functionality. You do not actually need to run said developer organization. Follow the steps below:

1. Go to https://dashboard.oculus.com/organizations/create/
2. Fill in the necessary information (Shown below)

Enabling Developer Mode
To actually allow your device to take advantage of developer abilities, you will now need to enable it in your iPhone or Android app.

1. Open the Oculus app on your iPhone or Andriod phone.
2. Select the Settings menu and then choose your Quest.
3. Select More Settings.
4. Toggle on Developer Mode.
[SKIP IF RECENT INSTALLATION] 2. Setting up SideQuest
On your computer, you will need to download an application called SideQuest that uses standard Android ADB commands to install applications and updates to your Quest.

Download and install SideQuest
1. Download SideQuest from https://sidequestvr.com/setup-howto.
2. Run and install SideQuest from the executable you just downloaded. While you're waiting, come back here.
3. Download and unzip the Oculus ADB drivers from https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/ package/oculus-adb-drivers/
4. Right-click on android_winusb and select install. Windows may prompt you to confirm you want to open this kind of file. Select Open.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to install that file.
6. By this time, SideQuest should have finished installing. Go back to the installer, check Launch SideQuest, and click Finish/Next

You've now got everything you need to begin setting up Virtual Desktop.
3. Setting Up Virtual Desktop
We're now ready to install the Virtual Desktop software on both your computer (a VR-Ready PC, of course) that will allow you to wirelessly stream your SteamVR games to your Quest.

Setting up the Virtual Desktop Streamer
1. Download the Virtual Desktop Streamer from https://download.vrdesktop.net/files/VirtualDesktop .Streamer.Setup.exe
2. Run the file you just downloaded. Follow the onscreen instructions in the installer.
3. When the installer is finished, make sure you check Run Virtual Desktop Streamer and click Finish

Setting up the Virtual Desktop Application
1. Purchase and install Virtual Desktop from the Oculus store from your mobile phone, the Oculus store website, or actually in your headset. DO NOT purchase it from the Oculus desktop application.
2. Once it is installed, open it from your headset. You should see a message that says "No computer found"
3. Enter your Oculus username into the Virtual Desktop Streamer app on your computer and hit save. The application icon in your dock should turn orange. This indicates that it is awaiting a connection from the headset.

UPDATE: Steps 5-7 are no longer necessary! Skip them if installing after Feb 2021.

At this point, you will be sideloading an application from SideQuest. Please plug your headset into your computer with a USB 2.0 minimum cable. The included charging cable will work fine for this.

5. Open SideQuest and search for Virtual Desktop.
6. When you have located it, select it and click Install Latest. This patch requires that you already own Virtual Desktop on Quest and will not work without it.
7. If everything was set up properly, after a short time, a green box should appear at the bottom that says "All tasks completed"

Now, you should be able to reopen the app in your headset. If it has been properly patched, you should see at the bottom next to the version number "(sideloaded)"
4. Installing and Playing Anyland
1. Search for and install Anyland from the Steam store if you haven't already.
2. When it has finished installing, do not open it from Steam or the desktop shortcut. Instead, open Virtual Desktop on your Quest. If you have correctly sideloaded the patch from SideQuest, you should see a "Games" tab on the side of the menu.
3. When you have connected to your PC, all available Rift or SteamVR games will show up in this menu. Select Anyland.
4. SteamVR and Anyland should both open. If your headset is properly connected, SteamVR should recognize the connected headset as either a Quest or a Rift S. Either will work fine.
5. If it doesn't happen automagicly, in your Quest, select "Switch to VR" from the Virtual Desktop menu.

You should be able to play Anyland exactly as though you were using a PCVR headset!

Note: Make sure in the Virtual Desktop Streamer app on your PC that you have checked "Stream Audio" and "Use virtual audio driver".

Note: If you plan to use your mic in-game, in the Quest application, go to settings, and check "Pass through headset microphone"

ima be real mate, lotta effort getting wireless setup, especially if you don't have the best router, when you can just use a link cable.
