Please Thumbs up, it will help me a lot :)
Why are people so mean on CSGO? I really want to understand why there so much name calling and aggression. I mean other games have it too, but not as bad as CSGO (COD is probably worse but still..).

I witnessed my team be fine up until we started losing, then civil war broke out amongst 3/5 players on the team. They started calling each other names, blaming each other for things that really, made no sense. When you get into higher ranks, teammwork is absolutely essential. Bickering never helps the team and makes the experience worse for everyone. The quality of your game goes down due to abusive language and uncoordinated tactics, leading to a spiral of losses in a match that can be very difficult to come back from not only in game but after you get out of the game as well. Some players get very rattled by things people say in chat or with their mics. It is verbal abuse and it is incredibly harmful.

I realize when people make abusive comments that make no sense it's usually because they are operating with a certain part of their brain that inhibits rational thought. Understanding this is critical to diffusing situations on your team and with opponents.

I am making it my personal mission to be calm and supportive of all players. No matter if they're horrible, no matter if they're cheating, no matter if they're being supportive and just trying to help out when someone else is raging at them.

Guys! You can help the CSGO community be a better place by being supportive! Let's do it together and hopefully spread some positive vibes across the web.

I've discovered the best ways that work for me:

If a player is not a skilled as other players on your team: "Good try." or "You had a good kill that round." And depending on their state of mind, giving slight tips between rounds. "Damn nice try! If you had pulled down just slightly you would've had that kill. Nice try though!"

If you feel somebody is cheating, TRULY cheating, calmly report them and move on. DO NOT THREATEN them with a report. This only provokes already belligerent behavior. The game will be over soon so it's not worth exciting the rage about it from you or the perpetrator. Just remember to make a rational assessment of the situation before spamming those report check boxes. A lot of the times I've found that players are just faster than me and are talking ♥♥♥♥. In either case, a good answer is, "I'm not embarrassed." No i'm not embarrassed for reporting you b/c I really think you're cheating..and no I'm not going to converse with you about it. I'll just keep playing.

If somebody on the other team is ♥♥♥♥ talking and being rude: Usually stay silent and try not to interact with them. If they call you out on something by saying something like "wow get wrecked ♥♥♥." you can react with, "I'm not embarrassed." 9 times out of 10 this is a great answer that is not aggressive depending on how you say it. I just type it to deter from any tone of voice misinterpretation. But really, just dont feel embarrassed about people like that. Theres no reason to be embarrassed that you are not perfect at a really difficult game.

If you're getting frustrated, its ok. You're playing to have fun. I just tell myself I'm having fun and my mood follows. The key is to not feel embarrassed about losing. After playing CSGO, I rarely go to work and think about how badly I lost that one game last night. After playing it, it doesnt really matter anymore. You can move on. So I tell myself, I'm having fun and I'm not embarrassed of playing the way I play even if its poorly.

If you're playing with a player from another country or does not understand your language, no worries. They're playing to have fun just like you. Some tips for communicating with players from other countries are vital when they are on your team. The most used tips that I can recommend (that work for me) are as follows:

-Speak Slower, rather than louder.

-Avoid "ums" and "likes" and verbiage like that. It confuses non english speakers. The bare fundamentals of your message are whats important.

-Use a simple vocabulary and stick to it! Calling something by a different name every time you refer to it can be confusing. Try to develop some vocab that you know works, and stick with that as a courtesy to the other player.

I hope we can all try to help be supportive in the CSGO community and make it a safer place to meet people and game.
