You must have a pea brain. All you have to do is a face a surface closely and they won't be able to blind you quick enough from the side to make you drop survivors with most flashlights. Beyond that, use lightborne if you hate it that much I guess lol

Yeah I struggle to move my mouse towards me too, it's impossible to look down and not get flashed in this game :(
