Longsword is a counter active offensive weapon with high dps and decent mobility and has a long range despite being melee weapon.

When you pick up the weapon for the first time, you might feel like you're not doing the optimal damage you're supposed to. Don't worry since you will get better with practice. you don't need to be the speedrunner right now.

The game is meant to be played however you like, but there are still some fundamentals that you need to follow.

▸Spirit Roundslash

•Last hit of your special move as shown in the video its a 4 hit spinning attack.

•Landing a Spirit Roundslash on a monster will increase your Spirit Gauge by one level, increasing your damage. Your attack can be boosted up to three levels.(White, Orange, Red)

▸Spirit Thrust

•Your character thrusts forward, jumps in to the air to a overhead slash attack which hits multiple times.

•A powerful attack that consumes one level of the Spirit Gauge to execute. It deals the most damage when the Spirit Gauge is red.(Only use this when you have red gauge for max damage)

▸Foresight Slash

•Your character takes a step back and dodges the monsters attack.

•Foresight Slash allows you to dodge an enemy attack and deliver an immediate counterattack. It can also be chained into a Spirit Blade.

•Also it can be canceled into a Spirit Thrust or sheathed stance.

•If not dodged successfully you will lose fill gauge.

•When dodged successfully you will see a purple effect and a ding sound.(Same goes for Iai Spirit Slash)

▸Iai /Iai Spirit Slash

•Your character will fall into a sheathed stance, allowing one of two follow up attacks. The Iai Slash and Iai Spirit Slash.

•The Iai Slash grants a temporary buff when successfully connecting with the monster, filling your spirit gauge slowly.

•The Iai Spirit Slash is a power full attack that comes with risk. If you miss you will lose 1 entire Spirit Bar. Obversely, connecting with the monster preserves your Spirit Bar and causes significant damage.

With LS your main goal is to get red gauge as fast as you can so you can deal the most damage.
This is the main combo you should be using, just repeat and get red gauge after you use your Helmbreaker and you get the most damage out of it.


The combo goes like this:
Overhead>Poke>Fade>Spirit Round Slash combo>Iai slash>Fade>Spirit Round Slash combo
