ÖBB Class 2050

From 1958 to 1962 the Österreichische Bundesbahnen (Austrian Federal Railways) ordered 18 of these diesel engines from Henschel in Kassel. They were built from designs supplied by General Motors and outfitted with motors from La Grange, Illinois. Generally well-received, they could be found pulling regional passenger trains or heavier freight consists in less hilly austrian regions and were finally taken out of service 2004.

Basis of the mod are the three basic variants. These are supplemented by 13 further variants:

1. 2050.05 (1958-1975): Fir green Winged ÖBB emblem, decorative pointed stripe
   
2. 2050.05 (1970-1995): Vermilion "Pflatsch" ÖBB logo, decorative stripe, ivory painted roof
   
3. 2050.05 (1989-2004): Traffic red (Valousek) "Pflatsch" ÖBB logo, "belly band" in ivory
   
   
4. 2050.01 (1958-1968): Fir green Winged ÖBB emblem, flatter decorative pointed stripe, no taillight
   
5. 2050.15 (1961-1969): Fir green Winged ÖBB emblem, decorative pointed stripe, no taillight
   
6. 2050.02 (1969-1977): Vermilion Winged ÖBB emblem, flatter decorative pointed stripe, silver painted roof
   
7. 2050.11 (1975-1983): Vermilion Winged ÖBB emblem, decorative pointed stripe, silver painted roof
   
8. 2050.02 (1977-1987): Vermilion "Pflatsch" ÖBB logo, decorative pointed stripe, ivory painted roof
