1. Getting Started
Hello fellow Starbounders!
Welcome to my funny guide on how to make your own servers and play with some buds!
There are a few requirements you will need first, not much and i am sure almost everyone has it.
1. Starbound
2. Full access to your internet (being able to access the control center, know its password etc.)
3. Friends (what is a lonely multiplayer? a singleplayer! hahahah, no.)

I will not cover how to get a stable ip (some routers change their main ip consecutively and its annoying if you want to make a 24/7 server) because i dont know either, lol.

Ok my friend, hop right in!
2. Port Forwarding
Some may say this is the trickiest part, but i guarantee you it will end so fast you wont even notice this happened.
This game uses the port 21025, this is the main thing you want to know about port forwarding.

Now, remember when i said you needed access to the control center of your internet? yeah, you will need it now, if you cant access it because there is a password blocking it, ask your internet provider, or if your internet is connected with your telephone use your telephone number, when you get access you can remove the password if you dont want one anymore.

1. Gateway (you can skip this step if you already know your gateway)
The gateway can be found by a command on cmd, you can find cmd by searching for cmd on the search bar.
Once you get on cmd, type in the command "ipconfig"
Once you have typed that in and pressed enter, go to your localdomain list of ips, and remember 2 of the ips, your IPV4 adress the default gateway, i have removed my ipv4 address for safety.

2.Port forwarding the 2nd
Now that you know your main gateway, type it in your web browser.

You should be able to access your internet's control panel, if you require a password, you know what to do.
Search for "port forwarding" somewhere in that panel, i cannot tell you where because i am not there, sorry.

As you can see, i already have port forwarded Starbound, and Minecraft, and yeah.
You will need to create a new port, so click on that big ass "new" button in your screen.

Dont worry now, this will be easy.
Remember your IPV4 adress? write it down on where it requires your ip.
On the ports area, go on to 21025 to 21025 both TCP and UDP.
My router can have both of them on the same port, but if yours dont you will need to use that second port area and both should be 21025-21025 TCP and the second one 21025-21025 UDP.

If you have done everything correctly, congratulations! your friends can access your game by now, you will need to give them your external ip that you can see from Ipchicken[ipchicken.com], give them your ip and get in the game! If you want to check your ports, set up your server, wait 3 mins, then go to this website: here[www.yougetsignal.com] put the starbound port "21025" and use your external ip, when its done it will either say if the port is open or closed.

This is all my friends! the third section i forgot to save and i am too mad to recreate it right now,
maybe one day, one day i will recreate it, maybe not.
Thanks, it has been fun.
Thanks.

Check if the ports are opened on the right start-ends, and if the protocols are right, most routers can handle TCP/UDP forwarding at the same time but if his doesn't then just tell him to forward each one separately.

I've got TDC Homebox and I am unable to write these ports down myself. It just asks me who the host should be, and the ''name of service''. Starbound is not on the list, even though I've got it installed. What could the name for Starbound be? Or may it be because of Windows 10?

Thank you :D

Hamachi is like an online-lan community, yes hamachi is a great option if you are not into port forwarding, it provides you with a virtual-ip and all you need to do is be on the same group as that person, tl:dr yes :D

Is it possible that a networking program such as hamachi can be a substitute for port forwarding? Because I cannot find anything like that on my controll panel, and am affraid to mess with it much longer, as I am not the one paying for it.

@Dofo, some routers do not have a port forwarding panel, i suggest you look around it because it can also be named somethinge else.
