Metro 2033 FOV Introduction
Metro 2033 unlike most games today uses vertical field of view instead of horizontal. Metro by default displays a vertical FOV of 45 degrees or 72 degrees horizontal. Some will find the current viewing experience to be too narrow and possibly nauseating. Increasing the FOV can fix such issues and is just a simple matter of editing two configuration files. However do keep in mind that increasing the FOV may reduce in game performance due to more objects rendered in view.
Calculating the desired FOV
As stated earlier Metro uses a different method of displaying the surrounding world to you. Vertical FOV is calculated differently which means you should not increase the default to a standard of 90 degrees.

A desired horizontal FOV of 90 degrees on 16:9 display will yield 59 degrees of vertical FOV.

Calculate you desired FOV experience by using the tool in the following link below.

For Math Geeks

The vertical FOV displayed once the required values have been inputted ls used to replace the default FOV in Metro 2033.
Before Editing Configuration Files
Remember to always back up files before making edits.

The AppData folder is hidden by default. You will need to show hidden files by going to; Control Panel---Appearance and Personalization---Folder Options---View Tab---Mark Show Hidden Files and Folders.
Locating the Desired Configuation Files
Locate the following two files

1)\Users\username\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033\user.cfg

2)Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\usernumber\43110\remote\user.cfg
Editing Configuration Files
Search both files(Ctrl+F) and locate “sick_fov 45”

Change the value to the desired vertical FOV.

Save and modify user.cfg to read-only which prevents the game from overwriting any changes.

Repeat if necessary to find the most comfortable experience.

Thanks Jerkoff you lied and made my game crash until I had to re-edit it to the proper value and still it wouldn't work and It screwed with my desktop resolution.

I found here you have to edit r_base_fov 50.625

This prick tells you to modify sick fov and it crashes your game.
