How to play against a Demogorgon
Av Bamer97Bireball och 1 medverkande
In this guide I am hoping I can help most new, and old players have a better understanding in how to properly play a demogorgon from my personal experience of playing them. Some of the things I will be talking about here may be opinion based so i'm also hoping that anyone who happens to stumble by this can also leave their own feed back and tips they have discovered from playing a demogorgon.

About the Demogorgon
This section is going to give some brief information about the demogorgon and talk about its backstory.

What is the Demogorgon?

The demogorgon originates from the show Stranger Things and was the main antagonist of the first season of the show. All that we know about the killer derives from the Lore given to us from the game.

A blooming mouth full of needle-like teeth for a face, large, curved, razor-sharp claws, and powerful legs to pounce on victims, make The Demogorgon a frightening monster to face in any dimension. It is a nightmare of unrestrained, feral rage as it hunts down its prey and rips it to pieces, devouring every last morsel of flesh and gore, leaving nothing for scavengers. The creature is untouched by any sense of compassion or restraint. Looming over its victim, it shows no doubt or mercy, just the pure instinct of its insatiable blood lust as it delivers the deathblow. A perfect hunter, The Demogorgon is a macabre testament to the horrors lurking in the Upside Down and why it was choice pickings for The Entity.

The demogorgon was introduced to Dead by Daylight in the Stranger Things DLC on September 17th, 2019. He is one of the taller killers in the game and has a 4.6 m/s walking speed (3.68 m/s when using his Of the Abyss ability). His secondary ability (lunge) is incredibly fast, at about 18.4 m/s.

The image on the right is a demogorgon that has reached prestige 3.
The Demogorgon's power & abilities
The demogorgon starts off the trial with 6 portals (8 with add-ons) that can only be placed once unless survivors remove them (seal them). In most cases, these portals will be placed in very particular patterns including at the exit gates, on various generators (especially those that may constitute a 3 gen), and Hex totems.

Portals effect on survivors
When removing the portals the survivors get the Oblivious status effect which prevents them from seeing The killers red stain alongside not being able to hear his terror radius.

Of The Abyss
When the demogorgon places his portals, they start off highlighted white and change to the color yellow when activated. To activate a portal, the demogorgon must first place down two portals and travel from one portal to the other. With the portal now activated, the demogorgon is able to use his secondary ability to hear the heartbeats of nearby survivors, giving him a stronghold on key parts of the map.

Counterplay
Although these portals can be very useful and can end up as game changers for the killer, they also have a disadvantage of not being able to be replaced like Freddy's dream snares. Due to this, the best strategy for portaled gens is to complete them once the portal is placed. The demogorgon will never get the portal back and it will put him at a serious disadvantage. This can also help the killer late game because of the demogorgon's effectiveness late game, especially when survivors need to open the exit gates. By forcing him to waste one portal from early game he will be permanently limited in the late game, especially when the exit gates are separated by large distances.
The Demogorgons lunge ability.
What does his lunge do?
The demogorgons lunge is basically what it sounds like. It is when the demogorgon uses his secondary ability and then goes for a m1 that propels him forward quickly similar to that of the Hillbilly. when using this however he is much slower to the survivor which can give them a few moments to plan their next move.

How to avoid this.
The best way that I have found is to prepare in advance in a way where you keep the killer guessing of which direction you are going to go. this works when you have distance but in close quarters this is much harder to do especially when the open. If you however have a wall you can use your best bet is to hug the wall so that they miss the lunge and you can create a decent amount of distance.

Looping
When it comes to looping a demogorgon it is very similar to any other killer. You hug the object that you are looping him on and throw it down when you see fit. Sometimes you may notice them charging up their lunge and in this situation it is similar to playing against a huntress. You want to stay out of their line of sight so that they don't hit you which does two things the obvious one being that you are saving the pallet if you can force them to miss the lunge to make some distance and the second one is stalling for your team to do gens. If you are looping them at an L wall and a T wall it is best to vault immediately when turning the corner to the window. In this are the demogorgon is a very powerful killer so you shouldn't take time trying to figure out if he is doubling back or not.

The end
I hope that you were able to learn something from this guide and if you have anything else you want to add that might help comment it below. Have a good day :D

Edit: RIP demo :<

Yeah sorry about that I completely forgot about that aspect of it.

Part about cleansing the butthole is wrong. Nothing to do with hooks, you never see them as survivor. You don't hear the terror radius or see the red light while it is active.

L and T walls are always situational, i think survivors should get in the habit of always learning when to vault and when not to vault, dont just blindly vault the window...ever
