Please keep in mind that a majority of the players in our community are mostly uninterested in Achievement hunting. So if you are looking for players for grinding to get the games Achievements then you're not gonna find that in our BLTD Discord Server as we play mainly for fun and what we earn toward Achievements while playing is an added bonus but not a priority.

Its highly recommended doing this fix for an easy install. The game is notorious for install issues and already this has resolved some start up issues in our community.
Originally we used this fix to remove the User Account Control prompt but also it will complete the First Time installation process that should occur when the game is opened for the first time. Apparently the needed game files are not in the appropriate Folders and thus the game continually asks permission at every start and is never configured completely. I myself and another member could not open the game and this fix resolved that issue.

After following the guide instructions, to activate the fix start BLTD and the UAC prompt will appear one last time. Click yes and it will begin the First Time installation process and may take about a minute. You will no longer see the UAC prompt and the game has installed properly.

-Save the BLTD to the C: Drive or Primary HDD instead of any additional HDDs on your PC
-Perform the UAC fix as shown in the Guide section
-Allow the Updating, Downloading, or Loading loop to complete. This may take a long time.
-Shorten your Xbox Password to not exceed 16 characters. Passwords can exceed 16 letters within Xbox.com but when attempting to use 16+ letter passwords with GFWL it will give errors.
-Go to this link after creating a your Xbox account and it will lead you to the Profile section of your account and in there select a Gamer Pic for your profile and click Save.

-Uninstall any previous versions of GFWL and the Marketplace and also Windows Live Sign-In Assistant and redownload them from the Links in this FAQ.

Despite what the many Reviews on the Steam page say, BLTD DOES NOT use Servers for gameplay but instead uses Peer-To-Peer connection meaning players Host a match by starting game modes for Public or Private Matches. Using Player to Player Hosting as opposed to Dedicated Servers means the game will survive as long as players can organize some matches.
Like any Peer-to-Peer service BLTD does connect to a main Server for Matchmaking purposes. Most likely because GFWL is an Xbox service it is possible BLTD uses Xbox Servers for its matchmaking.

(AKA: Infinite Loop) Any of these prompts will hold any progression toward playing the game hostage so it must be allowed to complete. Time to finish will vary from 5 - 20 minutes or possibly as long as an hour and a half being the longest. It's recommended to reserve a time to leave the computer alone and let it complete while away. 2 hours should be sufficient enough time as a worst case scenario. It's unknown why it takes so long. After this you will be able to finally play after a few more steps and you never have to do this process again.

Officially Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 will work but unofficially Windows 10 works fine when installing the game. Also Windows 8 will work.
Note: Games For Windows Live is also compatible with Windows 10

Yes GFWL works fine with Windows 10.

This has been known to happen when the GFWL installs incorrectly. Or you have an old version.
To undo the bad installation follow the steps depending on your version of Windows:
Windows 10: Windows Start Menu> Settings> Apps> uninstall GFWL
Windows 7: Windows Start Menu> Control Panel> Programs and Features> uninstall GFWL

Many times this basic method of uninstalling and reinstalling GFWL will resolve most issues.

Note: If you are encountering issues with Infinite Loading screens at sign in that is not an error but is a common issue with signing in the first time with GFWL with your Xbox account. It appears to be stuck but will eventually finish. It can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours to complete.

Quick Match aka Public Matches: Currently the game is configured in such a way that it greatly discourages players due to Public Matches requiring a minimum of 4 players to even start a PVP Game using any of the Quick Match game modes. Also even if a player creates a game Lobby, the odds of another player showing up to join in that short time the Lobby is open is unlikely. So right now Public Multiplayer PVP Matches are dependent on a Community like ours:

One example is when our Community had our Event of 6-12 players in Quick Match TDM over the course of 3 hours and there was no random player that tried to play online in that whole time. It simply means that the 4 person minimum is so restrictive that players know that even if someone did show up two more players would have to then appear for a match to start.

Note: Private matches that are PVP can be started with just 2 players and is Invite Only from your friends list. However Friends can also Request to join any of your Private PVE or PVP matches

The game has a PVE mode called BlackOps and has the option for Single Player with 4 separate missions on 4 maps and are small Campaigns where you battle against AI. You can also play BlackOps in Coop with a total of 4 people. Unfortunately BlackOps is always in Online mode so you must have an Internet Connection even if you are playing solo.
BlackOps is Private match only so essentially it is a Friends Only game mode. Players you do not know cannot join but can be added to your friends list to Invite. BlackOps can be played as Invite only or friends can also request to join your BlackOps Lobby.

Modes are as follows:

BLACKOPS

PVP 2-16 players (Private) & PVP 4-16 (Quickmatch/Public)
DEATHMATCH
TEAM DEATHMATCH
DOMINATION
RETRIEVAL

It's still unknown what causes this and is still being researched. It seems to be isolated to when specific players Host the game. If you have issues joining you can attempt to Host the game instead and have them join. If that fails and 3 players are present have the third person create the Lobby and all can attempt to join that way. If only two players are present and both get the Lobby Full warning, you can both close the game entirely and start the game again and this may resolve the issue.

Unfortunately the only known way to bypass the Region Restriction enforced on the Steam page was to trick Steam by acquiring a Steam Game Code thru the Amazon or another website that sells game codes. However Amazon game codes cannot be purchased on their site by those affected by Region Restriction. A definite solution still is being researched.

However its not perfect and is lacking but will help for some basic needs if WL is not available in your Region for download. Its recommended that if WL is available to then take the time to install it as it has more functionality than the Xbox App.

Two potential Solutions exist.

Obviously the issue is the game will not even open but upon testing on a newly installed Windows 10 OS I installed on a laptop I ran into this same start up issue and I am theorizing that the game requires proper first time installation via this UAC fix but with the game files currently the way they are, it does not allow this to ever take place as its skipped due to the file being in the wrong location.
After changing the file paths the game will give the usual UAC prompt, Click Yes, but this time it will be momentarily be stuck installing the game properly. After this you will have access to Blacklight: Tango Down. You will also never receive the UAC prompt anymore.

Solution 2: If you are pressing the Play button in your Steam Library or click the Desktop shortcut and nothing happens its possible the game is being blocked by your restrictive settings. Try checking your Router and Firewall setting as they may be restricting the game from even starting as the game is Peer-to-Peer and the settings chosen may see the way the game connects as a vulnerability.

Yes but the majority of the Achievements require the use of Public Matches (Quick Match) and needs a minimum of 4 players all planning to play together. All involved can then work toward their remaining Achievements.

The CD Key is an access code given when purchased through Steam to be used with Games For Windows Marketplace to unlock the game. Once the Steam account is linked to your Xbox account thru GFWL it cannot be transferred . To locate your CD Key after purchasing Tango Down, go to your Steam App for PC and in your game Library on the Blacklight: Tango Down page and click on the Gear icon, scroll down to manage and scroll over to CD Key as shown here:

Write your own positive review on the Steam page for BLTD and also leave Thumbs Up on other positive reviews. By adding Thumbs Ups and good reviews the negative percentage of bad reviews made by people that think the game doesn't work will slowly bring up the score or can also bump up positive reviews closer to the top.

The game has partial controller support for the Xbox 360 controller via usb cable. XBox One controller is also compatible via the Xbox USB wireless dongle (Win 10 required). The PS4 controller is also partially compatible via USB cable but manual configurations are needed and is more limited that the Xbox controller option.
Note: The PS4 controller is not usable during some of the ingame hacking prompts and needs to be unplugged and the mouse used to complete the sequence and then plugged in again to play. Xbox controller has no issues and is the best hassle free option.

Yes to do so open up the Steam app and at the top under Steam click the drop down and go to Settings and then to Controller. Click the General Controller Settings and place a check mark on PlayStation Configuration Support.
This cannot be done from Big Picture mode.
Not doing this will only allow for some basic controller controls may exclude full use of the PS4 controller or will not allow you to configure personal preference to the controller keybinds when in Big Picture mode.

Strict setting done previously to your Xbox profile preferences can be the cause:

Be sure to set to Everyone and do not select Block or Friends Only. The Block setting will stop messages or game invites from being received thru Windows Live.

Experience can be gained by playing BlackOps either solo or with other players. BlackOps XP varies from Easy Mode being the least amount of XP, to Insane Mode have the most XP earned. The BlackOps XP gained is split between players and is determined by kills and objectives. Private PVP matches do not allow for XP to be gained. Public (Quick Match) PVP matches do allow XP to be gained but those matches need a minimum of 4 players to start a lobby.

The XP gained will automatically increase player Rank and unlock features or items like Guntags, Gun scopes, Gun Attachments, and some additional Secondary weapons as well as character Armor and Camos.

No, HSL does not own Tango Down. BLR is owned by HardSuit Labs and Tango Down is owned by UTV Ignition Entertainment.

This does happen for some that haven't updated their Windows Operating system with the optional software in the Windows Update. Most users will not see this prompt to install certain Windows Updates needed to operate the game.

The cause of this error is unknown at this point. To resolve try these fixes below.

Change the setting for Shader Detail shown above down to 2 or 3 instead of 5 will fix this error
Click on Apply Settings to have the new selection take affect.
Solution 2: Per another players experience it was at 2 Shader Detail and raising it to 5 also fixed the issue.

Solution 3: If the other methods do not work you can also attempt to Verify the Integrity of the Game Files
Its recommended to do this even if you have already reinstalled the game. To do this open your Steam App on the computer, go to the Library and under Blacklight: Tango Down click on the Gear Icon and in the drop down click on Properties. Go to the Local Files tab and click on Verify the Integrity of the Game Files and let the process complete. This may resolve the issue.
Lastly no saving an altered .ini file in the game files will cause the Shader issues so be sure to change any altered files to Read Only and press Apply.

If you see this Purchase History Error uninstalling Games For Windows Live may resolve this Error as it worked for one of our members. It could be you have an old version of WL or a bad install.

This may occur after changing to a new email on Xbox.com and then using GFWL having prior set up the autofill for your profile and find that GFWL auto fills the old email & password. Replacing the old info with the new email and password only gives errors saying the info is not correct.
Note: Double check your credentials on Xbox.com to ensure your email and password are correct.
The solution is to select the option that says use a new account and input your current email and password. Before selecting sign in check mark the autofill sections to avoid further issues.

Yes you can login to Steam & GFWL on another PC to play BLTD and the save data will transfer as well as any Rank, XP, unlocked progress made in the game.

You are allotted a one time name change thru the Xbox website in your Account options that can be done for free. Here is the most current link to Xbox that will take you directly to the name change screen assuming you are signed in to your Xbox account.
New changes limit the name to not exceed 12 characters.

This Error seems to appear when the CD Key is entered and then this will show

This may be caused when the path where Steam games are saved is changed from the C: Drive to an alternate HDD on the computer.

Its unconfirmed if this is a solution but its worth trying. Follow the suggestion and move the files to the folder Steam is in or change the path and redownload the game.
Either way be sure that after you do this, in the Steam app go to Library and where your games display in the window on the left side find BLTD and left click on it and go to > Properties > Select the tab that says Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files
Let the process finish verifying and hopefully this resolves by changing the save paths back to default. Try to continue get BLTD up and running.

To review your settings in GFWL press Home> Settings> Network Information

(Some fields have been removed) The last section should say under Nat Type: Open
Some Public Wifi connections in Businesses and Dorms may have status that says Moderate and this may give connection issues.

The games are 2 years apart from each other, BLR in 2012 and BLTD in 2010.
Tango Down being a prequel is less polished and has less items than BLR.
BLR was Server based (R.I.P.) and BLTD is Peer-to-Peer.
BLTD has many of the same things such as HRV, Digi Grenades, EMP Grenades, Prox Mines, Assault Rifle, Revolver, LMG, SMG, Sniper Rifle, Heavy and Light Pistol, and Shotgun.
Best of all BLTD has no Elemental Ammos so no Toxic or Fire effects on any items.
Agent outfits resemble BLR default gear, it has camos for Agents and guns. Attachments are fewer but many of the same scopes you see in BLR exist in BLTD. Many of the guntags are there also. Certain helmets from BLR exist in BLTD.
BLTD has Stamina and does not have any Melee weapons.

This is a discontinued service of Games For Windows Live and is only used as an alternate to inputting the CD Key for BLTD. You must have BLTD open for the Marketplace to recognize it.

If your Steam games are defaulted to install on any Harddrive that is not the C: Drive or Primary Drive then BLTD will not work. Games For Windows Live will always install onto the HDD that has the Windows Operating System. Some users may have a different letter designation for their Primary HDD so keep that in mind.
Windows OS, GFWL and BLTD all need to be on the same HDD for the game to function.
Uninstall BLTD from any Secondary Harddrives using Steams uninstall method in the Steam App and then proceed to press Install and you will see a prompt that looks like this:

Choose the drop down and change the install location to C: Drive (or your Primary HDD) and click Next.
Blacklight: Tango Down is slightly larger than 2GB total size so its not consuming much HDD space.
Note: You will need to perform any fixes again, UAC fix, ADS fix, mouse settings fixes ect..
