Vinyl yeah I can hear you there. I actually like it mainly because now it gives more life to Subnautica. I always felt the original Subnautica was lacking a bit. You get these radio transmissons, the sunbeam explodes, etc but your character just stays silent? I think the addition of voices make the game more immersive to a degree. What I would like to see in Subnautica BZ is more dialogue. Maybe if you are outside in the middle of the blizzard have some lines that say I’m cold I need to find shelter. Something like the long dark does.

Personally I just don't like the whole Voice protagonist ordeal :P

i liked the "original" subnautica alot and i didnt get bothered by his skin color. and i like subzero to and im not bothered that the hero is a woman and non-white. even if her voice may or may not change i like it alot. also there will always be people who get triggered by the smallest things no matter if they are sjw or not.

@Flytrap “while they have a point”? They have no point. They’re just grasping at straws to make an early access game seem like complete and utter garbage while implying their racist tendencies because the character isn’t white. Well I have news for them, the character in the first Subnautica game wasn’t white either.

Like @Chairo said, I wanted to see what other people thought of the game and instead I was met with all negative reviews bashing the devs for being “sjw” for the main character being a POC female. I’m sure if the character was Male, hell maybe even the same character as the first game people wouldn’t be accusing the devs of being sjw’s. Although people accused the devs of being sjw’s for not including any guns in the original game.

TL:DR

Just don’t be a bag of douches. This is 2019, not 1950. Don’t like a game because the character is female or non white? You might need to re-evaluate your life then if that’s what offends you.

For what it is right now, I'm enjoying it. Will probably still favor the first one for now though and check back as updates are released. I don't want to play this one too much and burn out on it before it actually gets released lol. This one will definitely overshadow #1 by leaps and bounds though, I can already see that potential :)

Honestly, the best thing we can do about ignorant and offensive reviews is report them. That's why the option is there. I suggest that everyone do that as much as possible, for all games really.

Alot of people don't realize how challenging and time-consuming game development is...and after all these years still don't understand the concept of EARLY ACCESS. To give a non-relevent review that negatively impacts the overall public rating in the Steam store (MetaCritic scores are generally more accurate, though still subjective) could inadvertently turn people away from purchasing if there are those that don't have the time or desire to see that the bulk of the negatives are just swamp gas and 12-year-old self-entitled spoiled little brats that think the world owes them absolutely everything, served up on a silver platter.
