Sledge is one of the best beginner characters in the game, teaching the players about all the nuances of the destruction system, with having simple to use, yet powerful weapons. All of this equates to an operator that is easy for newbies, relatively difficult to master for more experienced players, but regardless always useful even if the user isn't the best. As they say, "Experience is the best teacher". So if you want to be better at vertical gameplay, I highly recommend you practice with Sledge. He is much easier to use than Buck, while being almost as effective, and then some.
