Early: Stay mid as a solo. Farm till mid game and only leave if really necessary. Don't use shrapnel. It isn't as effective as you may think and those points are better in other skills. Only attack enemy heroes to get them to stop attacking you. Your ultimate can often cause an enemy to retreat back to the fountain for health.

Mid: Defend pressurized lanes and look out for ganking potential with your ultimate.

Late: Aid in team fights by chewing armour using the Desolator and killing half-health or less enemies with your ultimate. Push into the enemy base and use the power of your Desolator to help take down towers. When inside the enemy base, prevent enemies from being of any use by camping their fountain.
