Intro
Many people believe that Clue/Cluedo is a long, drawn-out process of elimination.

But it doesn't have to be this way -  it can be a logic puzzle akin to Sudoku, Picross or Mastermind. Play it right, and it's infinitely replayable and rewarding.

Here's how to play it right.

Use all these techniques and you will often have cascades of logic that let you quickly fill in the matrix and solve the crime through insightful deduction, rather than a plodding process of brute force.

If you have any further logic tips, maybe you can share them with me!
Lesson 1: Use the matrix
Lesson 2: Count ticks in columns
Lesson 3: Count crosses in columns
Lesson 4: Elimination through advanced notation
Lesson 5: Clues through overlapping advanced notation
Lesson 6: Elimination through non-overlapping advanced notation
Lesson 7: Only one option left

Whoever not able to figure these out by him/herself after a couple of games that is sad.

take a pen and paper with you and write down who answered which combos. cross them out as the options eliminate themselves and you'll be ticking off 1-2 options per round as the game progresses

In a six-player game, there are 5 other players. So, I use the numbers 1-5 to mark not only what was asked of the person answering, but which player was doing the asking. That way, I can notice patterns in people's asks, too.

Only problem is, I frequently run up against the limitation that, if the same player answers the same asker twice, I have to rely on my memory for which sets of marks go together, which hampers my ability to eliminate possibilities based on later information.

Moreover, I often feel as though, if I could just refresh my memory on the order of a particular player's requests, that would be the last bit of data I need to cement my accusation.

I wish there were a row of A-E marks along the top of the cell, the way 1-5 run along the bottom. Or the ability to colour-code each cell a selection of colours. Anything to give me the ability to track along one more axis...

@Icepick1337 that's because the AI "knows" what cards you already have and will actively play to limit the amount of information you can glean from random guesses eg Mr. Mustard who is directly ahead of you in the turn order regularly seems to make a guess that asks for the cards you have in your hand or ones you've already been shown by other players ensuring you don't get information to make educated guesses from.

The numbers under the X/Check etc marks aren't hot keys, they are notation marks as well.

How do you add numbers? I am using the pc version

Also using the numbers works great because if you have 3 X's with the same numbers and two of them have been eliminated then the last one must be a tick. However this won't work if you have 3 X's with the same numbers and you go into a room and ask and they show you one of those cards so you then get a tick on one of the 3 X's. The other two X's that where in that group of 3 X's are now useless. Unless I'm wrong, which I'm happy to admit.

I tried this with hard AI and they always still win. The only time I win is luck based.
