Introduction

So, here are 2 projects that have actually gotten DOOM 3: BFG Edition to run on the HTC Vive/Rift in full 3D, with motion controllers, roomscale tracking, and a functional UI. It’s basically the entire game in VR as if it were made to be played that way.

Fresh Steam Install or Uninstall/Reinstall is needed for both!

Game saves should remain intact under [Users/(your profile)/Saved Games/id Software] feel free to copy and save elsewhere just in case. (My saves are working, so yours will too.)

VR Mod "RBDOOM-3-BFG"

Fairly basic has working VR Controllers in classic FPS view. Dont' forget add a Texture Pack!

Download from Here:

Extract Zip in root directory of "Doom 3 BFG Edition"

Click on "RBDoom3BFG" Application to run game in your VR Headset

Next add a Texture Mod I suggest "Doom 3 BFG Hi Def"

VR Mod "Doom 3 BFG VR Fully Possessed"

All-in-One Doom-3-BFG VR + Texture Pack, simple install.exe has Body FPS view & Teleport!

Download from here:

Now Install the .exe

Click on "Doom 3 BFG VR Fully Possessed" Desktop Icon to run game in your VR Headset

Conclusion

It's worth noting as well, is that as far back as the original Oculus Rift Kickstarter, DOOM 3 was actually planned to be bundled with the Rift itself, before the deal fell apart. Perhaps these mod(s) helps unlock a piece of that original vision from id.

Glad I could help. I recommend Flat2VR discord server for info about all the VR mods for flatscreen games. You'll be surprised how many games received VR mods.

The linked version of Fully Possessed is outdated. There's a version which works with more types of VR headsets, has more features and bugfixes:

Hello. I do have fully possessed installed and it is working great with my quest 2. I do have a question. How can I add HD textures or mod it lets say with no body disappearing mod. I have tried ABSOLUTE HD mod. Added command line option but it is not working. Anyone ?

Using fully possessed and loving it. But for a moment thought my headset was possessed.
I was telling a friend how this has voice commands and all of a sudden I hear this robotic like voice saying a lot of stuff quietly and quickly. I was like I don't remember this being in the game.
I was looking around for a second trying to figure out what it was and where it was coming from...
Felt really stupid when I realized it was just naming off all the voice commands. Apparently saying voice commands lists them all... Go figure lol

From those two "Fully Possessed" is actually superior. RBDOOM has no body/hands, has no VR options menu, and "comfort mode" there is horrible.

Why does vive keep getting boned? Exclusivity on VR is the worst thing for VR
