Modular 7 Segment Counter

This is a modular counter and display unit. You can combine multiple units to one large counter (and display).

Specs:
-Width: 3 blocks
-Height: 5 blocks
-Depth: 9 blocks
-Max. counting frequency: 6,7Hz
-Min. input pulse lenght: 0,075s (Reset: 0,25s)

I/O-Ports (see third picture):
-Main input: Connect the signal source that should be counted (e.g. button).
-Reset: Resets the counter.
-Hide zero: Set this input to 1 and the display will show nothing until the unit receives its first input. Use this for a multiple unit setup.
-Carryout output: Sends a 0,025s pulse, when the counter counts 10.
-Carryout input: Receives the signal from the previous unit's carryout output.

Setup:
1. Connect your signal source (e.g. button) to the main input.
2. Connect your reset button to the reset input. (If you only need a counter from 0-9, skip to step 6)
3. Add more units, depending on your needs. Place one row of red lamps between them (see fourth picture). You can turn these off by connecting them to an unused logic gate.
4. Connect the carryout output from the first unit to the second's carryout input. Repeat this for all units.
5. Connect a always on signal to the "Hide zero" input off all units, except the first one. You can realize that with an unused logic gate connected to a NOR gate.
6. I recommend putting some black glas in front of the display. This makes it easier to read.
