so some tips to how to kill Chort:
punch him in a series of 2 each time, because if you get greedy and slash him 3 times in a row, he's gonna punch back! and it's pretty much 1 hit kill! it's ok if you want to do that but the risk is not worth it. i've realized the majority of time he's probably no danger as long as you don't slash him 3 times in a row (u probably didn't have to roll over so many times as i've done). the only time he's dangerous is when he stands up roaring.. it's the warning sign that he's gonna charge and headbutt you! so i suggest when he stands up, get ready to roll on the ground, so that when he charges he wouldn't run into you! 
almost all the signs are affective on him except for aard. but the best strategy is to just slash him 2 times in a row, pause for a second, slash again, pause, repeat..
