An MK14 and any scope is good enough against bandits aswell - they won´t see you anyway unless you get too close.
"I don't know if they've changed the AI to actually shoot at a distance though, and you do have to be shooting basically at ArmA engagement ranges"
They haven´t and you won´t ever be seeing an ArmA engagement range - the maps are too small for it and the AI is limited to engage at 50m at most as it seems.
Technically in the games current state: You just snipe them and bring a squad just in case (well, especially since you can get stuck quite often currently and if it happens you want the squads to engage to ensure victory).
I really do hope the devs are planning on overhauling the AI, especially since the game is out of Early Access now and it still plays like a pre-beta build at best.
Still quite possibly the easiest way to farm experience.
All you have to do is be good enough at shooting that you can hit enemy targets from a distance and you're golden. I pretty much never travel with a squad, and with a bunch of ammo in my cache I could quite happily kill every enemy on the map solo.
I don't know if they've changed the AI to actually shoot at a distance though, and you do have to be shooting basically at ArmA engagement ranges, none of this short-range stuff.
but I did the exact opposite of knowing myself and went in full on guns blazing and got rich fast
yall some pussies
