Chapter 4: Loot Walkthrough

A simple guide for chapter 4 to get all loot, with as few spoilers as possible.

0.0 Chapter Start
Welcome to one of the more irritating chapters in the game. Garrett starts this chapter on a rooftop in Dayport.

Chapter 4 holds 39 loot items and 6 collectibles. Note that this chapter contains a number of "points of no return" - once past them, earlier loot opportunities are gone, so be sure to get the stuff before moving on.
1.0 Dayport Rooftops
Soon after his change of goal, Garrett must leap down onto a narrow ledge and head north - just around the corner there will be a small terrace to the right that he can access. Here he may find a tea cup [loot 1] on a round table and an ashtray [loot 2] in a potted plant just over the rail.

After continuing on, he will find he needs to enter a window. Before entering the window, look to the left and note the support for a rope arrow - in the courtyard below find a pocket watch [loot 3] on the bench. The Lapis Lazuli Circle [collectible 1] is under the other bench, and on a nearby barrel is a water arrow and a broadhead arrow.

Back up the rope, before heading in the window, you may wish to also gather a poppy from the dark alcove just east.

[Note that there is no returning after leaving here. Be sure that Garrett 1 collectible and 3 loot before moving on.]
2.0 Eastwick's Grand House: The Garden
Note that there is no loot in the gardens - though it's possible to collect some food, a couple poppies, and a couple purses off the guards on the way in.

For this guide, we're choosing the greenhouse entrance to the mansion.
3.0 Eastwick's Grand House: Underground Passage
Entering through the garden greenhouse leads, eventually, into the kitchen cellar. The cook is making regular trips down so be wary of him. Grab the gilded bottle [loot 4] from the wine rack before heading upstairs.
4.0 Eastwick's Grand House: Ground Floor
Upstairs in the kitchen, fetch out the gilded bottle [loot 5] next to the stairs, and the two spoons [loot 6 and loot 7] off the table. Garrett can find a teacup [loot 8] in one cupboard, a cup [loot 9] in a second, and yet another cup [loot 10] in a third.

Out in the hall, at the foot of the stairs, is a candlestick [loot 11] and, in the chest, a hairbrush [loot 12] and a perfume bottle [loot 13].

In the study, there is an ink bottle [loot 14] and a document on the desk. In the safe are a blast arrow and the Morendrum Medal [collectible 2].

Garrett should by now have:
  • 2 collectibles
  • 14 loot
5.0 Eastwick's Grand House: Second Floor
In the Master Bedroom can be found a safe containing a necklace [loot 15] and a jeweled egg [loot 16], and there is a candlestick [loot 17] on the mantle. The wife also has some valuable earrings, though they do not count as loot.

In the adjoining bathroom, there is a perfume bottle [loot 18] and hairbrush [loot 19] on the dressing table.

The southwestern corner of the upstairs hallway has a small round table with an ink bottle [loot 20] next to the candles - around the corner and upstairs from there is The Abundance of Emptiness [collectible 3].

The library has a teapot [loot 21] (on a small table between the shelves), a candlestick [loot 22] on the mantle, and a baron's bust [loot 23] on the small table next to the fireplace.

By now, Garrett should have accumulated:
  • 23 loot
  • 3 collectibles
6.0 Eastwick's Grand House: Private Study
Be sure that you've got everything you need before entering the study - that is, 23 loot and 3 collectibles before going in. Once in, there is a puzzle to solve: solve it last - there will be no going back after that.

The baron's corpse has a nice pen [loot 24], and there is a telescope [loot 25] on a shelf in plain sight on the second level. On the bottom level is a document.

Once you start to mess with the tower model, there is no going back, so be sure that you are at 25 loot and 3 collectibles before heading onward.
7.0 After All the Running (AKA, Dayport Again)
Garrett ends up in Carlysle Court, nearby a guy who's come out amongst all the chaos to sell a few arrows. OK, dude - your commitment to capitalism is to be admired.

Through the attic, there isn't much except a water arrow and broadhead arrow in a pouch in the attic atop a crate to the right before Garrett enters the crawlspace.
8.0 The Keep
On the waterfront itself, Garrett should scavenge the dead, picking up four coin purses [loot 26, loot 27, loot 28, and loot 29]. Clockwise around the courtyard, there is one near the western gate on the ground, one next to a guard slumped against a wagon wheel, one next to a guard face-down by a bench, one on a guard face-down very close to some flames.

Once inside, move slowly - things may collapse otherwise. One catwalk will have a gear [loot 30] on it, if you didn't collapse the walkways.

8.1 Engine Level

On the Engine Level, there is an office with a chest containing two watch seals [loot 31 and loot 32] plus a magnifying glass [loot 33]. Deeper inside is a bag of coffee beans, and another magnifying glass [loot 34] in a desk drawer. Out and around the corner is a gear [loot 35] in a drawer, and a flask [loot 36] on a table.

8.2 Boiler Level

Dropping down one level to the Boiler Level are two of the remaining collectibles: one of the dead guards has Soldier's Memory [collectible 4] and on the far eastern wall, in the alcove, is The Keep [collectible 5]. A flask [loot 37] is on a crate just by the plaque.

8.3 Prison Level

On the Prison Level, there are two documents, a prisoner list on the desk just outside the elevator and a Graven Letter near a dead guard. There is also a desk bell [loot 38] in a drawer of the desk opposite the elevator.

Before moving on and freeing Basso, ensure Garrett has:
  • 38 loot and
  • 5 collectibiles.
There will be no going back after this point.
9.0 The Safe
Before cracking the safe consider collecting the gear [loot 39] from the northwest platform overlooking the safe area - it's on the ground under a fallen post, and it's the final loot.

Let Garrett do the thing Garrett does, then deal with the fallout.

After it all, but before entering the safe, there is the Shale Snake Bracelet [collectible 6] on a crate at the far northern end of the area.
