Medic Relationship tips

A small guide of how to be nice towards the friendly Medic (or, for all the arrogant ones: how to make them heal you more)

Introduction & Intent
Greetings. I'm Zika-Chan. One of the worst Medics within Team Fortress 2 and caffeine-obsessed weeaboo disease. Yeah, weird.

Anyway, I'm here to tell you some tips and maybe even one or two tricks to help your fellow Medic, make their life/lives (depends on his loadout and skill, ya know...) easier and maybe even make a new friend. Or how to not jarate him off.

Seriously, the intent of this is both the help of other people and the annoyance of certain people.

Structure
The structure will be simple.
I'm going to start with general tips and slowly, I'll descend to class-specific ones.
Let's start!
Vitriolic Sodium Chloride
Sorry, I'm a chemist.

Okay. First tip: Don't be toxic and/or salty towards your medic or in general. (I know. I am myself. xD)

This is TF2. A shooter game with exceptionally more luck variables and skill gaps than other games. We understand when a situation might have been unfair or just pure ********.
But please, don't chat/mic spam, if the Soldier got you with a crocket or somethin'. Especially not towards your Medic! If you jump into a revved up Heavy and die, don't start yelling at the Medic for not healing.
The Medic has a lot on his mind. Who to heal? Is there a spy? Who is on the brink of death? He has two eyes and not 23. You will have to deal with the Medic breaking off, if he decides to heal the Heavy at the chokepoint instead of you.

So remember. Friendly patient -> Friendly Medic (often...)
Stop pressing E!
Okay, this one's a bit related to the one above.

Your E button is a button that makes the class yell for Medic. The Medic then can hear it through literally anything and see a coloured speech bubble, depending on your health. If you're hurt or ready for a push, call for Medic once or twice. Don't spam it. It blocks the chat sometimes and just sounds annoying and some Medics retaliate by ignoring you.

The only exception is if the Medic has tunnel vision and doesn't notice you. Then either spam it decently (maybe once a few secs) or make yourself some attention.

Consider your actions
This should be pretty obvious too but when having a Medic, be double careful.
When a Medic heals you, it doesn't mean that you're a bullet sponge. Only when ubered. The Medic's not your justification to do stupid things. You can do low risk things but not really dumb stuff. Only when he has uber and can rescue you in a pinch!
(Think of those emergency berries from Pokémon. Something like that!)
Medic's need heals too
This one's a bit harsh and is targeted at some newer players.

As we all know, the Medic does have a natural health regeneration. It's pretty alright, not game-breaking stuff. That does not excuse you from denying him any heals. If your Medic is hurt and you are walking past a health pack, let the Medic pick it up. The missed health you gave your Medic will be redeems in a manner of seconds, believe me.
(side note, that's the same with Engineers and metal packs)

(special note to all heavies with lunchboxes: you can give them to your med with right click)
Special for decreased heal rates
This involves some classes but not all.
Let's say you're a Soldier with 10 HP and wield the Escape Plan, running off. Then you encounter a Medic in front of you and he starts healing (stock). Now:

If you're either under pressure or something's up (capping point): Switch to your Launcher or whatever Secondary you have if you can. It's bad for capturing points when your Medic heals you with 3 HP per second, right?

If you are in a quiet corner or one point ahead of the enemy team: Stay with the Escape Plan. The heal rate may be decreased, but the Uber rate is not. Let's do a quick comparison over Δt = 20 seconds.

When you have the time, don't switch the weapon or don't resupply! Let the Medic build Uber, alright? This affects the following weapons, which decrease heals:
  • Escape Plan & Equalizer (Soldier)
  • Back Scratcher (Pyro)
  • Fists of Steel (Heavy)
  • Razorback (Sniper)

Or you damage yourself when you're higher in health so that the uber rate won't drop.
tl;dr for the topic above
When nothing happens, try to have less HP when being pocketed, either with self-damage or decreased heals.
Ending
Thanks for enduring this small guide and mine and this guide will be a continous work!
When you add some things below, I'd be more than happy to add them into this guide!
Other than that, that's it. Do the things above and go team!

In love and hate: Zika-Chan, contagious Medic
