Grab Bag Time
This being just one big assortment of items, i tried in my short time to figure out how best to organize all of the info. These are things ive learned, with a majority of them ebing stuff i dont see or hear other players or youtubers talking about at all, and they really helped me dominate the game so far.

  • Use the starting troops to scout around and kind of mark your boundaries according to the positions of the hordes. Try to explore into the hordes if you feel like a choke point is just out of vision.
  • YOUD BE SURPRISED how well rangers perform within hordes, they are fast and can usually get in and out unscathed, if you macro them. This is EXTREMELY useful for grabbing resources lying on the ground within a lingering mob of zombies.
  • Intelligenece concerning your surrounding area is vital, because you can make a huge fortification mid game, negating the possible space or fertile land and resources on the other side of the wall, only to find out later that there is a choke only a few tiles out of vision to secure that whole area.
  • So you have 5 units, and 7 choke points? Use the patrol feature to have 1 unit patrol two chokes. SO you have several chokes all really close together? use multiple units to patrol the chokes, with the patrol paths overlapping in some areas for added security.
  • Doom Villages can be taken out easily by a sniper, just as long as the sniper is in a tower, or has enough support from turrets or extra units to destroy the buildings. Thanatos work well too but snipers can be made a lot earlier.
  • If you want to win the final day, you NEED the Thanatos Unit, i personally ONLY use this guy compared to Titans and lucifers. He is the ONLY unit with actual REAL splash damage, and if you can get 4 of them on a wall, they can stop a horde in their tracks, by them selves. Which makes them VITAL on the last day. i stock pile 30 of them (thats 3 oil platforms) and place atleast 3 at each wall, then move them around as the horde thickens among different walls.
  • Always try to stay on top of your resources, wasting time waiting to get enough stone as your gold or wood is full, is the worst thing to have happen, since those are resources are still being produced, and if your storage is full, youre just burning it up. Build resource buildings in advance as often as you can to avoid all of this.
  • Stack walls where ever possible. If you have gold and stone lying around, add in small, 1 thick walls with gates throughout your colony to serve as fall back points. These can entirely stop game wipes by not allowing the infected that multiply within your buildings from reaching any more. Think Attack On Titan.
  • Always be as strategic as possible when placing resource buildings, EVEN though a sawmill says it can get 10 wood when placed at the center of a forest, you can place 2 instead, at either end, and rake in 8 wood each, making you 16 wood off the same forest instead.
  • The same thing mentioned above applies for ALLLL resource buildings. Especially quarrys.
  • Dont ever get the mayor that gives you 1 Lucifer. Always get the 3 soldiers or whatever the other guy offers instead. I never updated this a year ago, as an update came out that made them super viable, ignore this point.

id also like to point out that if your reckless with tent placements on barren maps like the swamp map that can cover possible farm areas. reckless placement on all maps can also stop troops from getting around quickly during a hoard. sometimes a colony can get so convoluted that the troops have to travel halfway across the map to reach a spot a couple tiles away from their original position. id also like to say on resource management usually its gold your waiting for so the market building is a lifesaver from the extra gold wood and usually also iron produce

Absolutely agreed about rangers in hordes, walls & gates as fallbacks, and especially resource buildings doubling up on the same patch. But ESPECIALLY the fallback gates. In that tenuous transition to midgame, there have been times I've gotten surprised by an ill-timed runner wave chewing on my walls, which attracted a horde 8 times as large, and they reached my houses -- I could have stopped the insanity if I'd done deep walling sooner.

There is a trick that if you don't like the mayor options, you can get different ones. If you don't like it, close the application and load up again, they unpause and pause immidietly again. Then wait for the options, rinse and repeat till you get what you want.

I'll second (third?) what Lich King and KoT said about the Lucifer. It's good to have a high-end unit early on.
KoT 20 Feb, 2018 @ 5:22am
sorry, but Lucifer at the second level is the best that can be on any complexity, with him you can easily save the colony if somewhere there was a breakthrough and with it it's just as easy to clean up villages with 15-20 archers, and this before and faster than waiting for 20-30 snipers, so we get a big boost to the resources of the early game.
Naturally, you need to be able to mic some bit, but after a pause it's not so difficult, and yes, I checked my statement on all the cards at maximum difficulty.

and further on the game Lucifer is not particularly needed, except that 3-5 patrol the command center just in case

Sorry for promt.

1 game i got the 1 lucifier but though that playthough it was a good call as i had 2 VOD close to me and he jsut whiped them from exisitance (of course supported had snipers killing the chubbies but other than that yeah) so with units it depends on the situation at hand

@Depleted, then im sorry i couldnt help your incappable ass. Again, not my job to tell a moron to add "Wall Layout" to your "Attack On Titan" Google search. Rather than telling me that you cant find a defence layout when you google it, just add DEFENCE LAYOUT to your google search and youll find exactly what im talking about. Not everyone has to take every extra step to please your limited attention span.

The puase button makes more sense then , I was thinking it was that. Currently have made my way to the second (and now heading towards the 3rd map because I have just beaten the second map)

I suppose maybe the issue is that I dont know the correct build order- Or I just dont build the correct units. 95% of my time is spent building towers and soldiers because towers increase range. But now I keep reading guides and people say towrers are bad. Which is weird.

Btw playing on 100% diff now where as when writing that I was on very low pop.
And after playing the Sniper tip ended up being more useful than I thought it would.
