Deceit is a game where you get placed on the side of the actor, or the audience. There is no in-between these two.
In this guide i will tell you how to effectively deceive the survivors without even having to use your microphone.
I will go over several general tips but i will also provide several important and easy to adapt to roles you can assume when infected which will make it hard for the survivors to detect you being an infected. This will get you trust, i will also tell you how to effectively abuse this trust later on in the guide.

- If possible, try to shoot whilst drinking, it will mask the noise and you can blame your mouse if someone gets suspicious
- help someone take something, having eyewitnesses to your "good deeds" is ALWAYS a good thing
- always have an excuse to split up. "guys i'm going to get that last tracker/ check where *player* is/ get the last fuse etc
- people can not see if you have a fuse. Always try to take a fuse to slow down progress

I will now go over some personalities i have discovered quite well and their up/downsides. Most of these personalities won't even require a microphone to pull off correctly and some (depending on your age, gender, voice and temper) i will even discourage the use of microphones for.

The Survivor


It may sound as a stupid role to start off with, as it may seem so easy to grasp, yet i see so many infected players do this so so wrongly. It is the most used role yet it is also the one that most people seem the worst at. Don't instantly call others out or you'll be the first one to be scanned, but do agree when others say someone is suspicious. Don't do much small talk, try to do small helpings such as assist in taking objectives and pretending to search for fuses. Don't be too afraid to take bloodbags if you're using my gun tip as well. Don't act too aggressive or over the top. You never see survivors do that. But don't be afraid to abuse the fact one of the survivors is always away to frame them for drinking blood.

The Hero

Help people take objectives. Warn them of the infected. Act like a leader. If you tell others to "stay together and follow me", they will often not do so, but you will drop on the suspect list. Continue helping people, "save" them from the terror attacking them. If you play this role correctly you will often end up being the one getting the scanner, shotguns and lethal injections. I've had many games with this personality (you can even combine it with the other personalities rather easily) where i ended up finishing off the last two survivors with a lethal injection-> eating the other person/ shotgunning one down yelling "infected" whilst transforming after they got downed and attacking the other person before finished the downed one off. This counts in general, but if two people got taken out by voting out, try to act as confidently as possible that you're now all safe and should head for the exit as fast as possible. This will often reveal everyone's location which means that even if you won't be able to take everyone on, you can often catch one person who got left out.

Downside is that you may have to end up giving the survivors process to gain their trust. In rare occasions one or more people will also point the scanner towards you because they trust you, but want to be sure to trust you. This does not happen often but it does happen.

The lurker


The main downside that the innocents have communication-wise is that they have no exclusive channel. Which means, if you do get suspected and people think you're infected, you can always start separating yourself from the group. If done correctly, you can actually make people believe you're dead, which could even make them suspect each other, as you're "supposed to be dead". I've had a lot of people kill each-other off and even more times where i could easily reap them one by one because they got over-confident. It also often means you should stay completely silent and hidden, focusing more on obtaining blood bags than anything else.
The biggest downside is that you have to play very stealthy, and if someone notices you, you're pretty screwed as they will often instantly remark you still being alive.


Mr. Nice guy

Start the game off with small talk, compliment someone's cosmetics if they have any special ones (such as Halloween cosmetics or nice pajamas ), try to help out every now and then and act as nice as possible. Always say please, always say thank you, always sound happy. The more you communicate the more they'll trust you. If you want to run off getting blood bags, try to deceive them into thinking the terror is chasing you, this is the perfect moment to mask you drinking blood bags by shooting whilst drinking. Best case scenario they'll trust you, you'll get easy blood-bags and you'll be able to frame someone for being infected as long as they were a bit separated from the group.

After you've finally captured their trust you may find yourself getting to scanners and trackers easier.
These are a few tips on how to sabotage others using your trust:

• If you get a hold of the scanner, let the others decide on who to scan as to not get suspicious. It doesn't really matter who it is as you can play both situations off fairly easily. If you end up scanning your infected teammate, claim they're clean, if possible. If someone else, definitely claim they're guilty, this will make everyone's guard fall down a bit as they think they only have to face one more infected as well as making you have one less person to deal with.
  
• Never refuse to get tracked, it isn't the end of the world and a lot of people in lower ranks won't even pay attention to the tracked person, besides, not acting suspicious about it might restore a little bit of the trust.
  
• Never try to over explain yourself if someone doubts others trust. If possible, when cornered, distract people by saying something that requires urgent attention such as "Rachel just drank blood, guys she's infected, i told you!" or " oh god i just saw * a person separated from the team* transform i think, they're going after me!"
  
• The optimal situation for an infected to be in is being alive after having 2 people being framed. This will probably mean less duo-items, but it will also mean you can free roam for blood without raising suspicious most of the time.
  
• If there's someone you know that thinks you're suspicious, but the rest aren't very convinced, try to frame them for being infected and trying to frame you when they attempt to scan you. 99% of the time the person being scanned is the one on the losing side so usually it is best not to get to that point to begin with.
  
• People trust people who revive them the most. This is by far the easiest way to get trust. Yes it does slightly set back your progress but it could mean 100% trust for the rest of the game and often free shotguns etc as you have a personal witness of you being a survivor. This will also make your scanner calls almost 100% believable.

I am certain that at least one or two of my tips will at the least be a little bit useful, but i am always open for feedback as it is one of my first guides.
