The Summon Spell
Description:
Summon wrenches a creature's soul from the netherworld to help the caster. If this creature kills another, it is replaced by the soul of the newly fallen victim. Higher levels allow the caster to keep the creature summoned for longer.

Basics:
The Summon Spell can be found among the Surround Spells in Fable: The Lost Chapters and Fable Anniversary.
The Summon Spell is one of the most advanced, as well as useful spells in the game.

The Summon Spell can only be leveled up to Level 4 by a Good Hero. If you have devil-like horns on your head, and this spell appears unable to be mastered, that might be the problem. What I'm saying is that if you aren't a good boy, it can only be leveled up to level 3.

When the Spell is cast, it will create an ally that will assist you in combat, and attack anything that is considered an enemy, close to you or your summon.

You can only have 1 summon at a time. The "Ghost Sword" spell does not count against this.

When used for the first time, ever, it will spawn a normal Wasp. The wasp is probably one of weakest creatures in Albion, but is still way more dangerous than a Black Beetle, who appears to get killed in one strike by everything, and only deals 1 DMG.

When the Wasp manages to kill something, (the Wasp must have made the killing blow) it will transform into this creature. This is simply how to make your summon more powerfull, by letting it kill more powerful creatures than itself. As the Wasp in considered the weakest creature by the game (although Black Beetles are way weaker) it will always upgrade on it's first kill, unless it killed another Wasp, of course.

Upgrading the Spell itself will result in your Summon living longer, before it has to be summoned again, at cost of mana.

Your summoned creature will always have a blue tint of color, and will be slightly transparent.

If cast when the summon is still alive, it will not cost much mana at all, but will instead of "re-spawning" your summon, teleport it next to you. This will not reset the summons life timer. But it is however a great way to farm magic skill points, just keep using the spell over and over until your mana is out. Don't do this mid-fight, of course.

Once it upgrades to a creature considered more powerfull than the last creature, it is impossible to downgrade it to that again, the only way would be by going back to another save.

Your summon cannot upgrade into stationary creatures such as Trolls, and it cannot become a Boss, (such as the Scorpion King, Kraken or anything such as) with the exception of the White Balverine. Also, your summon cannot become a Summoner.

Disclaimer: There is a way to use the Summon Spell to push you through demon doors to skip having to open them, and also push yourself into the platform in the Chamber of Fate and get the Sword of Aeons really early-game. If you really want to do it there are plenty of YouTube videos and/or forum posts.
The Black Beetle Glitch
Do not ever let your Wasp kill a Black Beetle. If your Wasp was to kill and become a Black Beetle, you're in trouble. Or atleast set up to waste a lot of time to upgrade it to anything better.
Some people just give up on the spell if this happens, because they don't think it is worth the effort to get the Beetle into something better.

Why?
Well, a Summoned Black Beetle doesn't work exactly as well as a normal one, as the summoned one doesn't work as it is supposed to.

It has a really hard time attacking (about 1 attack per minute, with a lot of help), and when it finally does, it only deals about 1 DMG.

If you happen to have your summon become a Black Beetle before anything better, but want to use the spell, it is recommended reloading to your last save. If not, it is possible to have your Beetle attack something enough to kill it.

How?
Hit something relatively weak multiple times with your stick, such as a Hobbe, to weaken it.
Then just stand still and let it keep attacking you, by blocking it's attacks with your melee Weapon.
Spawn your Beetle, stand on the other side of the Hobbe, and let it strike you while the Beetle tries to pinch it from the back.

If your summon Spell isn't atleast level 3, you might need to respawn your Beetle a couple times, to have it finally kill the Hobbe.

This whole procedure might take about 5 to 30 minutes, depending on how hurt the Hobbe is and how often your Beetle manages to strike it. Once you have a Hobbe as your summon, you will proably not have any problems leveling it up to more powerfull creatures.
The Strongest Summon?
The Strongest summons, in order of weakest to strongest (according to the game) is the White Balverine, Wraith, Minion Wardogs, and Minion Dreadwings.

However, the White Balverine is in fact stronger than all of the creatures listed after it.
Some players will try to keep their White Balverine, and not cast the Summon spell when facing enemies listed above.

The biggest drawback with keeping your White Balverine is Quests' like "Rescue the Archaeologist" or "Battle Jack of Blades", as both have a lot of Minions in them, where a Summon could prove really helpful.

Some people will let their Summon become a Minion, and some want to keep the White Balverine.
It's your choice!
Thanks for reading!
Now go use that Summon Spell!

Fable: Anniversary is a remake of Fable: TLC and is the exact same game, except it has some new armors and other equipables and useables (None of which are really good). It also has updated Graphics in HD, and it does have Controller Support.

He simply is the most effective at killing enemies. He might knock you over, but statistically he should be the best.
If it is too much of a bother, the Minion Dreadwings are good as well! (not as at dealing damage tho)

I didn't like the While Balverine as my summon. If I was facing an enemy one-on-one he would charge at the enemy and knock us both over.

So, if i understand correctly, once you upgraded your summon to something better ( lets say a hobbe) the next time you are going to cast the spell you keep this hobbe ?
I was thinking i have to start from a beetle each time i use the spell ! in fact its a awesome spell.
