Here's the step-by-step guide with pictures how to get the eight Steam Achievements in the UDK - Unreal Development Kit. It's not that easy to make this happen. Some steps are needed and you can't overview your Steam Achievement status quo in your library!

It took us a while to create this guide and I hope you have success. Give us some feedback if you have troubles with our guide. :)

Important facts:
» You don't need to install Unreal Tournament 3:Black Edition (unless you wanna play with UT:BE maps -> *read step 10 for more details) to get the UDK Steam Achievements; the "extern" UDK (about 1,8gb) is enough.
» The UDK via Steam (library/tools) is not working for this (error: this game is not available at the moment, blah...)

There was a problem first that you had to maximize the game with Alt + Enter in order to exit the map later. --> Thanks Chrissyx for this hint! :)

IMPORTANT NOTE: You don't have to maximize the game/the map with Alt+Enter anymore. Due the new UDK Beta they improved the exit map --> Thanks TheAnthonyNL for this hint! :)

Download the latest UDK from February 2015: Download

Install this UDK version

Download the UDK Beta via this link[www.unrealengine.com]! Get the Latest Beta one (July 2013).

Install the UDK Beta.

After installation, let the UDK start for the first time automatically. Finish the UDK.

UDK:
Go to "Start/All programs/Unreal Development Kit/UDK-2013-07" and then click on UDK Editor.

You're in the Editor (NOT ingame) now.

Additional notice: Create a shortcut of the editor and put it in your task bar to get this started faster. :)

Map:
Now you have to go to File/Open (here[www.abload.de]) and for example to have a working map take the VCTF-Necroplois.udk one (or DM-Deck.udk)

Open the selected map and it will be started inside the edtor; this lasts some seconds. Now you can freely move in the map with your mouse and WASD keys.

NOTE: You just see a picture in the foreground (you're STILL in the editor; NOT in-game).

How to play the selected map:
First go to your menu bar and select the "Play" menu, a dropdown will appear and select "On PC" (here[www.abload.de]) .

The editor will start the game for you this can be done in some seconds but for some people like me [SgtFopper] it took about two(!) minutes!.

Now you wonder why? Well the editor is saving/compiling the map and after it is done it will start.

When it appeared you are finally IN-GAME.

Adding Bots:
Now the game started and you see a message "Press FIRE to start" press fire, after this press "F1" just to be sure there are no bots.

Now when there are no bots press "TAB" (this opens the console in-game) and write "AddBots 5" without quotes.

NOTE: 5 is the number of total bots added to the game. This number can be different of course.

Switch Map:
If you want to switch fast between a map all you have to do is press "TAB" and write "start VCTF-Necroplois" or just select one which appears in the list with the arrow keys and press Enter.

Additional:
If the above one fails: Exit the game with the ESC button - not the whole game/UDK - and you return to the main menu.

Go to Instant Action/Settings/Bot Skill level (for example: Novice)/Back/start game (take the VCTF-Necroplois or the DM desk map)
*You can also choose more maps if you have installed UT3:BE.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All achievements except the Armadillo (Roadkill) one can be done on the "DM-Deck" map.


This achievement is really simple. All you have to do is adding 1 bot the the game and kill him first.

Time need for unlock: 2 minute.


This achievement is all about killing 5 bots without dying. If you die just start killing again till you hear Killing Spree in your game.

Time need for unlock: 5 minutes.


This achievements needs a special gun in order to gain kills towards it. Find a "Shock Rifle" and start killing 4 bots with it.


This achievements needs a special gun in order to gain kills towards it. You start already with this gun so just hunt around and start killing 4 bots with it. If you ran out of ammo watch the weapon locations screenshot.


This achievements needs a special gun in order to gain kills towards it. Find a "Rocket Launcher" and start killing 4 bots with it.

Time need for unlock: 10 minutes total.


This achievement needs a special item which is located on the map, in order to get this achievement you need to play the game several times or just wait till the special item reappears.

Hold that item for 60 seconds. So far i counted the item last 30 seconds till you get killed because you drop it then.

Time need for unlock: 2 minutes total.


This takes a long time because there is a list of mutators, simply follow the screenshots.

From the 3rth screenshot you have to select only ONE a time when you start a new match.

Do these 3 steps each time till you went through the whole list of mutators.

Time need for unlock: 30 minutes total.


This achievement needs to be played on the "VCTF-Necropolis" map. Look in the guide above how to switch maps inside the game.

All you need to do is grab a vehicle, and start riding over bots.

Time need for unlock: 5 minutes.
