I don't add furniture because my friends and I like decorating the maps to our liking.
I don't add lighting in the houses for about the same reason. If you want a room to be kinda dark, or maybe even pitch black, and there's a light element there, you can't remove it. But if you want a room to have light you can just add a lamp and make it transparent. So before you start typing, Think: does this guy care about my opinion on lighting and furniture? Awnser: kinda but not really.
