Descrição
It has always bothered me that we can stand on and stack boxes and crates, yet not barrels. Well, not any more...

All this simple mod does is enable platform collision on Small and Large Barrels, allowing them to function exactly like their cubic counterparts. Astounding features include:
  • Stand on them!
  • Drop down from atop them!
  • Use them as a table!
  • Stack crates on them (blasphemy)! Or better yet, stack barrels on barrels! Barrelception!

Ok, kidding aside, this should have been vanilla.

In an unexpected turn of events, this fixes a vanilla placement bug. In vanilla, there is an ocean microdungeon, a small "capsule" building with two barrels above a thin floor that you break through to get to loot. With this mod, those two become plus one stacked. Apparently, dungeon design in vanilla intended for barrel stacking. Go figure.

You are a hero--and you're absolutely right, this should have been a vanilla feature. It's like they just forgot. Gonna be honest: working on aesthetic organization is one of my favourite aspects of building, and being unable to STACK BARRELS is unthinkable. Thank you for your service.

gotcha, thank you!

Yes. The patch doesn't affect IDs, so the mod is safe to add or remove at any time.

would this mod be safe to add mid-save? just want to make sure it won't PGI all of my placed barrels before installing haha

@ZippoMoon
Yes. This does not affect any changes made my ES, and I've been using both together as long as this mod has existed.

Is it safe to use this alongside Enhanced Storage?

Much appreciated Azure. I'm very patient. :)
I'll keep an eye on your profile, but a post here would be awesome when you finish it. I've searched everywhere to try to find a mod to stack more containers, and this is the closest I've found so far.

Thanks again! ^_^

@Drexl
We actually had a discussion about accessing stacked barrels in the comments a while back. That said, I understand the sentiment. Sure, I'll go through vanilla containers when I have a chance and see about platforming some more. At the moment, I'm working on getting vanilla farm animals to spawn like monsters without cluttering planets (almost done with that one, actually), a few upgrades within the RPG Growth project, and a few other ideas that I'm fleshing out, so I have a few projects in line. But I'll definitely have a look :happypug:

Also, I don't necessarily care if I cant jump on each one like a platform, I just want them to stack.

I realize there are times it doesn't make sense, but I just like having the freedom to make that decision and be granted more creative control over interior design of my ship. Off the top of my head the avian sarcophogi (not sure exactly what they are called) are an example of something I'd like to stack on top of each other. Weapon creates (they have a flat top). I mean technically stacking barrels doesn't make sense either because you couldn't even open them without taking the one above it off first so to me it's less about logic and more about aesthetics.
