The game is funny and scary it has really good replay-ability and is a blast with friends + the developers are super cool and hard working i recommend joining the discord !!! loads of cool sneak peaks at future updates

Still wakes the deep is a incredibly authentic SCOTTISH horror experience (i am personally Scottish so i find this very entertaining)

BELOW THIS POINT THERE MAY BE SPOILERS I HAVE BLACKED OUT EVERYTHING I CONSIDER A SPOILER BUT I MENTION THE PACING AND LENGTH OF THE GAME + TALK ABOUT HOW THE STORY IS PORTRAYED (NO SPOILERS REALLY AS I DON'T TALK ABOUT ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS)

The actual horror itself is inspired by a few things the main noticeable ones being
The thing
The Piper alpha disaster
And a few horror movies/games and books a lot of which focus on more unsettling tones or cosmic horror

The games story is Phenomenal in my opinion While also being very LAYED OUT / on the nose, what you see is what you get if get what i'm saying which is not a bad thing in my opinion as it is done very well. Another big positive i would like to mention is EVERY Character feels like there is a story to them but not in a forced way, it feels like they are people doing their job just like you which i think is very neat (plus the funny Scottish banter is amusing).

One thing i will say while not necessarily a negative, is that it is VERY linear like there are next to know other paths you can go the closest thing you get to breaking away from the set path is looking around for some lore or other random things (it doesn't feel this way though) at least not until later in the game. Now this COULD be seen as a bad thing BUT personally i think it is a good thing for the game as first and foremost the game is a story to be told, AND ITS A DAMN GOOD STORY although because of this linear structure i feel they decided to not make the game that long (i completed it in around 6 hours this is with me doing most of the optional things) and i feel this is because they feared the game play would get boring since it is kinda just sneaking about NOW personally i think they could have taken it a bit farther. ALTHOUGH i understand why they didn't and i still really enjoyed my time and the ending. but i do kinda wish there was more and feel it was a bit untapped on the cosmic side of things but i feel this way because the parts that were shown WERE AWESOME in a breathtaking kinda way. anyways the reason i mention this is for 2 main reasons

1. it's kinda short for how expensive it is

2. it is lacking in replayablity because of how linear it is

Having said that I really like this game even though i normally prefer more free less linear games and don't regret spending money on it IN FACT i would do it again honestly I may even replay it just because of how good it is even if there won't be a lot variance from my first run that is how strong the game is as a experience in my opinion.

music = 10/10
characters = 9/10 (there are some reaLLY good ones but i feel like one was slightly half baked / needed more screen time other wise i feel it was 10/10)
horror = 8/10 (some parts are TRULY horrifying and the cosmic horror that is there is on point both beautiful, horrifying and beyond my comprehension lmao but as i mentioned earlier it was slightly untapped in my opinion + in the last few parts of the game a lot of the tension towards the main threat had felt less scary mainly because it already felt hopeless and like it was out of our control / there was only 1 answer since it was so linear BUT that is also scary in it's own way considering the ending so it is not bad story wise imo

having said all of that if you like cosmic horror or interesting settings/characters or even body horror (and silly Scottish banter) i would recommend playing this game at least once it is worth the money BUT if you are not willing to spend that much it is understandable.
