Way to go, 616!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this experience, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter!

Detailed environments, excellent tension, great sound design, and smooth control are key elements that make "SHHH!" a winner.

Don't make a peep! Depending on your microphone calibration, this game is a pleasurable (if terrifying!) walk through a well-considered horror atmosphere, or it's a downright "try-it-again!" game of inches as you're relentlessly haunted.

The body-cam perspective is an excellent touch, adding to the highly immersive experience. The video effect is nicely done, giving an analog feel to the game without seeming terribly cheap or cliche.

My only negative experience lies in occasional crashes upon booting up the game - I have twice experienced a freeze on the 616 logo screen upon startup.

For the price, this experience is well worth your time!

This is my third revision for this review. It has taken a lot of soul searching on my part to make any kind of decision, but here's what I think, both good and bad.

First, you're probably going to have a lot of fun on your first play-through. The levels are fun, and have an emphasis on exploration. I personally love taking in the colorful and well designed sight as Tails, making exploration a whimsical walk in the park.

The gameplay, however, is a little slower than the typical classic-style Sonic fare. It seems just a notch below the speed one would expect from a Sonic game that draws so much influence from the classic titles.

The bonus stages are a welcome treat, and obtaining the chaos emeralds is an enjoyable experience. It's just challenging and rewarding enough to have a player commit to the task.

The bosses are a mixed bag. There are some very inventive mechanics involved with some of these battles, but just be aware that the good-old bouncing-on-them-'til-they-die trick won't work in this outing. Additionally, some of the boss battles seem to linger longer than necessary, especially during Trip's Story.

You will get hit. A lot. There are times when the level design pulls you along by the nose, leaving you vulnerable to attack.

The multiplayer mechanic is flawed - the camera is fickle in its decision as to whom it will follow, making it difficult to control your character at times.

The music and sound design are top notch!

The game's price point is entirely too high. It's worth the investment if you can grab it during a sale, but at it's sticker price of $60 there's just not enough to justify taking the plunge.

All-in-all, it's a fine Sonic game. Maybe one of the most fun and enjoyable Sonic games in years! It is, however, flawed. Still, I recommend.

I'm sure almost everyone out there has already taken the plunge into this gem, but if not just know: this game is awesome!

This one is a tough nut to crack in regard to recommendation. This game was super hyped in the horror gaming community, and upon seeing gameplay footage and trailer content I was extremely excited.

Here are my thoughts:

First the good:
1. Beautiful, ultra-real environment that sets an excellent atmosphere.
2. Good sound design.
3. Very unsettling story elements (Just a forewarning for those that haven't played: the revelation can potentially be very triggering).

The bad:
1. Pretty darn cryptic - patience and attentiveness will be paramount to finding every clue and cracking the case.
2. Repetitive story cue elements.
3. Predictable scares.
4. Game crashes (make sure to test your game settings via the options menu).
Additionally, I experienced an event that took me right out of the horror when I no-clipped through the second floor into the living room during a cutscene.

I've only achieved the "bad ending," but I'm weighing my decision to complete the game very carefully. I'm not sure I want to go through it again just to see the good ending. Having noted this, I struggled to fully grasp the player "death" mechanic; there were at least two sections that had me at a loss as to whether I was supposed to be experiencing that interaction as a story-progressing element, or if it was a "death."

I don't have the evidence to support or deny the claims made in this video. My deepest hopes are that those claims are irrelevant, incorrect, or at the very least some kind of misunderstanding. I will say, however, that I wish I had been aware of the video and the claims therein before purchasing this game.

All in all, is SUPERNORMAL worth all the hype?
Meh...
It's no VISAGE.

I almost want to recommend this game. I really do. I just can't.

The good:
- Rich and atmospheric environments.
- Great sound design.
- Responsive, although limited, control.
- Achievement bait.

The bad:
- The entirety of chapter 4 (cryptic numbered bust puzzle, ridiculous circle-of-statues event, "enemies" that pose no threat until suddenly they do...).
- Slow movement.
- Achievement bait.

I bought it during the winter sale, and thank heavens I didn't spend the sticker price for this one.
If you can catch it on sale, it's not the worst way to spend a little time. However, under no circumstances whatsoever can I recommend this for the price.

Unsettling, imaginative fun!

While I'm not entirely sure this game is for me, I must say it's wickedly fun and highly addictive!

It's a variation on the Pac-Man style of gameplay - that is to say it's a maze game. Collect pellets (shards) and avoid ghosts (monsters) - in a lovely first person perspective powered by the Unreal 4 engine.

The sound design is excellent - great VO, music, and atmospheric sound; the visual atmosphere is as tight and well-designed as the game itself.

This is truly a fun excursion into dark fantasy, and I would highly recommend it to anyone with a love for classic gameplay and an interest in the macabre. If you have little ones that want to dip their toes into the horror pool, this may be an excellent option!

I really enjoyed this one! With a dark and occasionally claustrophobic environment, an engaging story, and fantastic VO, I found it it difficult to walk away from.

Great game at a great price!
