Early Access Review
Not nearly enough resources available. Research progression is terrible and takes WAY too long.

Early Access Review
At the time of this review, this game was still in Early Access on version three. The 900+ hours is not accurate due to sitting open on the intro screen and is more like 500 hours. Sunkenland is an underwater post-apocalypse survival game and present a world that is beautiful and challenging. Although there is plenty to do on land, like building a shelter, the real joy is diving in the ocean. With a majority of the resources found in the various underwater ruins, you will spend a lot of time beneath the waves. Above the surface are islands and barges populated by 'enemy' forces that you will have to confront to progress in the game. The base building is straight forward and fun.

This is a fantastic NSFW game. The quality of the rendered imagery is superb and finds that balance between anime and the uncanny valley. The animated scenes with multiple camera angles delivers a great visual of the action. The storyline is excellent and fun to explore with surprise twists. Lead character is a bit of a wimp, but develops well enough. Content is a bit grindy, but straight forward. Puzzles are well done, but not necessary. Overall, a fun game to play.

This game is linear and unfolds as a graphic novel. The players actions/choices are limited to the storyline, and what you decide only speeds up or slows down the progression. So, in no way should this be considered a RPG. The player is just a spectator doing a lot of clicking to get to the next scene.

A heads up for anyone using any of the excellent 'walk-through' guides; the action scenes WILL come in hot and heavy, especially towards the end. This can become over whelming and take away from the pleasure. With that said, early and mid game, using a guide seems all but required. My suggestion is, once you meet the real villain, put the guide away and progress through manually.

On a side note, from my own life experiences (just became a senior citizen), that performing inter course in the fashions depicted, particularly in late game, would result in serious health problems. More so for the females. Without -clean ups- in between exploring new openings, devastating infections WILL occur. Just an FYI for the younger crowd that are led to believe contrary. IMHO, **** just doesn't taste that good. The devs should actually try it, just to be sure.

Although I've never had luck with d6 games, and this one was no exception, it's not the reason for the negative review. More on the game play in a moment. The primary reason for the  is the behavior of the producers, or the fools controlling the forum. Even though someone posted "we're not banning anyone. Because there were some many threads, we moved to a sub-category.", everything is locked. WTF. And when you go to the thread with the most posts (a whopping total of 9), the thread is locked. I just needed a simple question answered.

The game runs as it is designed to with no glitches.
The graphics and cutscenes are nice.
The UI is intuitive and organized.
It's a dread game with pending peril.
Events are, for the most part, realistic.
The unlocks and awards are decent.

The negative is, the algorithm of the "RNG" (Random Number Generator) is skewed to make the game impossible for me to play without building frustration. There is a clear bell curve when rolling physical six-side dice, with the mean being 3.444, but still being a 1 in 6 chance for any number to come up. However, for programming, the RNG is usually done the lazy way and based on the internal clock of the computer. This method trashes the true mean number. Not to get too technical, there are much more accurate ways to receive results closer to the bell curve. But because it requires 10-12 lines of code instead of just 1, most developer take the lazy way.

Then of course, there's just having the worst luck with dice to begin with. For me, it's always the polar opposite of what I need and would NEVER line up with a typical bell curve. But that's just my own issue.

The devs need to grow a thicker skin and open the forums to the players to get both constructive and non, feedback from the community.

Having to redo events and upgrades all over again because the game fails to do a proper save (even with 'forced save'), is a real pain in my a##! Important crafting materials hardly ever drop. Combat action is way to quick and seriously needs addressed. Shelter upgrades and additional rooms is far too slow to achieve and wait times are astounding. From the comments in the Community Hub, support never fixes these issues and the updates only make it worse. I am pi$$ed I paid for this game.
Update Sept 2024: Checked to see if any changes were made. Yep, and it's far worse than before. Do not play this rip of hentai game.

Still, only played for 90 hrs. but have a lv. 11 shelter with 26 champions.

Played for 22 hours and reached level 37 and hit a P2P brickwall. Managed to get several rare characters and maxed them out, but not able to defeat the chapter 5 bosses. The game and story are entertaining and fun to advance through, even with the subtitles. The 'adult' tag is not necessary as the few cut scenes with a nude hentai character, everything is blurred out. The story line does not fit the rest of the story and appears added to entice young males to play the game. Some features are not well explained and seem pointless except to generate battles with no reward. The whole gene splicing aspect is confusing but necessary to advance characters and is P2P. For example, the gene splicing ability jumps from level 1 to 10, then to level 60 which is impossible to attain without paying. Also annoying is the freeze on being able to obtain rares by locking out resource needed from the friends list. Once you get 20 out of 40 gifts (hearts) from friends, the feature is locked. All in all, a decent game, but realize it's pay-to-play.

Update: Tried a little more. Got to Lv 60 and more frustrated than ever. Deleting this dumb game from my lineup.

Played 350+ hours using 3 vaults on desktop PC. Achieved 90% of end goal, with 100+ dwellers and all rooms unlocked without buying any in-game assets. The guides were very helpful, but the concept is very straight forward. Gather resources, build... repeat. The real-time progression is a little annoying, but if you run all three vaults at the same time, you can jump back and forth, making the time to complete quests more bearable. After getting a self sustaining vault running, it's pretty much just running quests to find the legendary weapons and outfits with the only advantage is blasting through the quests faster. At that point, your vaults become so cluttered and busy, the upkeep and constant attacks drain the fun out of the game.

Advancement too slow. Too much screen clutter. 90% of what can be done in game requires you to purchase Omega package. Will not be playing again.
