Rust is a multiplayer survival video game developed by the British independent studio Facepunch Studios. 12

The beginning of development is due to the fact that in 2013, developers spent a lot of time playing DayZ. It was while playing it that Maurino told Harry that he would be able to make a better "version" of this game. Harry did not object, after which, in just 6 months, they received the first working prototype of the game.

The Steam release took place on December 11, 2013. When the developers added the game to the Steam store, they did not expect a huge increase in the audience, because the main core had been playing for a long time and nothing supernatural had been added to the game. But suddenly, at the start of sales on Steam, 150,000 people bought Rust in just 2 weeks, later the number of buyers increased to 500,000.

After the release, the developers actively began to redo the cosmetic component of the game: a new sky, grass, and there were also attempts to add rivers and lakes to the map.
