日本战国题材，架空小国苇名国，建国者剑圣苇名一心垂垂老矣，幕府入侵迫在眉睫，其孙玄一郎为获得不死力量抵抗入侵，希望与神子签订神秘契约并将其软禁。忍者“狼”听从义父命令侍奉神子，现欲将其救回，决斗中玄一郎技高一着斩下“狼”之左臂，后者昏迷，醒来时出现在破旧寺庙且左手被雕佛师“猿”装上了义肢，凭借着不知何时开始发作的“死后复活一次”能力踏上了寻主与复仇之路，并且在路途中逐渐发掘三年前的真相，以及不死之力的秘密。
