Fun shooter, I'm hoping to change this review to positive in the future, but right now the game is annoyingly unbalanced. Season 1 didn't nerf or buff enough of the characters who needed it, but they did ruin mods with this latest update. This shouldn't be a problem for people to use some extra cosmetic or audio mods, especially when the game is suffering from not enough diverse skins for characters, and also lacks audio customization such as not being able to entirely turn off the announcer. Also Mr. F is overpowered, yet another character added to the game needing a nerf.

I have been desperately trying to enjoy this game for the past 2-3 hours. I adjusted the settings getting rid of the annoying HUD so that I could feel more immersed, so I could just focus on the "hack and slash action-adventure" game that I was promised. Maybe it could be fun if they had taken the time to actually finish this game. The combat is laggy, unresponsive, does not flow and that makes it rather frustrating, (especially for a game that is supposed to excel at hacking and slashing). Up close hack and slash combat wasn't even the worst part I noticed, the worst part was trying to use projectiles. Drizzt's sword throw? Forget it, a pathetic move in the state it is in, it has no stagger impact, super slow, passes right through enemies as if they were bloody ghosts, you can just sit there and spam his projectile while the enemies stand there like monstrous vegetables.

This leads into my next criticism, a lot of the enemies I encountered don't chase you if you're standing far enough away, even when you're throwing a blade at their skulls they just ignore you like everything is fine, they don't even try to dodge your attacks. If I throw a sword at someone's face I expect them to at least have a shred of a reaction, stagger backwards, hold your face in pain as you bleed, something like that is to be expected. Speaking of violence, sure this game can be bloody as it should be for an M rated D&D game, but I was expecting better gore detail, like limbs and heads flying from bodies as I cut down monsters.

It's clear to me after only playing a couple levels that this game fails to satisfy in its current state of development. Really hope Dark Alliance gets finished in future updates, but I'm guessing that will take another year of "patches" to even get this game to the state it should've been on release. Considering how hard this game has bombed I'd say we all deserve a refund for those of us who payed 40-60 dollars, this game certainly isn't worth that much, maybe in the future when it is fixed it could be worthy of a 30 dollar price, but maybe isn't this moment, and at the moment I feel cheated out of 60 smackaroos.
