As a fellow Finn,
I get nostalgic about Finland in the late 1990s when I play this game.
This nostalgic car-building game is made even more unique by its simple but distinctive graphics.
The most accurate representation of the Finnish summer may be found in this game.

Put simply, it's the most irritating game ever, but it's also one of the most fun ones!

Fallout: New Vegas is not a game; it's an experience—a journey through a Mojave wasteland that's genuinely gritty, genuinely complex, and full of life that feels raw and unfiltered. This is no generic post-apocalyptic playground; instead, this is a world of brutality and moral ambiguity, where every decision seems to carry a lot of weight, every faction has an agenda, and the line between what's right and what's wrong gets blurry in the desert sun. At its center, New Vegas is a multi-branched, complex story that twists and turns with your decisions, leading far too often to consequences that come out of left field hours later. It's storytelling at its finest, in a world where everyone you meet has a past, a purpose, and sometimes a grudge.

Sure, the graphics have aged like irradiated milk, and yeah, there are a whole lot of bugs that even today's patches can't squash entirely. But it shouldn't deter anyone from taking in what many fans consider to be the real successor to the original Fallout games. Its graphics do not impress, but with its setting and lore, it means so much more: a depth that is seldom reached by modern games. The Mojave Desert is all rugged and unforgiving but even alive with stories of betrayal, of survival, and of power struggles. Every settlement, every faction, and every piece of a relic from the Old World has something to say, and thus, it carves a world as real as it's merciless.

New Vegas gives choices, sure, that few RPGs would. From the silver-tongued Mr. House, desperately clinging to his dream of a future in control, to Caesar's Legion and its philosophy of rule through iron and blood, each faction has its own identity, motives, and ideologies that make aligning with one over another a challenge—and that's if you choose to align at all. You're also free to cut your own swath through the wasteland, aligning yourself with who you will, or turning on everyone to watch the chaos unfold. This, in conjunction with the deeply intertwined storyline, makes each playthrough different. It's remarkably easy to become lost in the role of the Courier, slowly transforming from lone wanderer to powerful figure whose choices shape the very fate of the Mojave.

To not play New Vegas as a Fallout fan is almost a crime in itself. This game doesn't just tell a story; it makes you live through the sun-scorched sands, neon-lit streets, and blood-soaked battlefields of a broken world that's unforgettable. A game like this is what every serious Fallout fan should at least play once, because for all its foibles, glitches, and all, there's nothing quite like it.

Team Fortress 2: What can I say that hasn't already been said? A game defying the typical online shooter lifespan, one that's more than stood the test of time. It's almost like taking a journey in time back to when games didn't need hyperrealism or heavy, dramatic storylines but were about pure, distilled gameplay that feels just as thrilling today as it did over a decade ago. TF2 brings with itself the right mix of fast-paced team action and class-based strategy to this unforgettable aesthetic, bright but almost cartoonish, firmly on the ground, with enough grit to make it work.

The gameplay itself seems like a perfected homage to old-school arena shooters—think Quake or Unreal Tournament—but with a distinct flavor all its own. Every class is a character—a part of TF2's signature puzzle—bringing their own personality, style, and gameplay quirks. Jumping into a round, you are free to play any of the nine classes, each offering a drastically different experience. Want to charge in as the Heavy, mowing down enemies with a minigun as satisfying now as it was ten years ago? Go for it. Or maybe you're the tactical type, slipping through defenses as the Spy, cloaking, disguising, and backstabbing unsuspecting opponents, always playing a deadly game of cat and mouse.

And then there's the art direction—distinct, timeless, and instantly recognizable. It's a style that separates it from just about anything in the genre. While most games are striving for photorealism, TF2 flaunts its unique mix of cartoonish style and terrifically grounded atmosphere. The maps are full of secret pathways, high vantage points, and destructible environments, adding an almost nostalgic feel.

But what keeps TF2 at the top of my list, my all-time favorite, isn't just its iconic gameplay or art style. It's the community and culture that have built up around it. And more than a decade later, it's still going strong: servers packed to the brim, mods and fan content coming out of the woodwork, and updates that keep things ticking over, even if they are fewer and further between now than they used to be. Every match, every encounter feels uniquely like you're stepping into your own moment in gaming history, which feels as relevant today as it did then. It's rare for a game to hold onto that magic for this long, but TF2 has done it.

Team Fortress 2 isn't just a game; it's an experience—a small slice of gaming history that still feels alive with energy. It's that one game you can always go back to and still find something to love—some strategy to master, some new nook or cranny of a map to explore. All these years on, it remains the ultimate way to unwind, escape, and lose yourself in a world where rockets fly, laughter erupts, and each class brings with it a certain unique way of causing absolute mayhem. A decade on, TF2 has not only survived; it has truly thrived. And there is just something rather special in that.
