One of my favourite games of all time, an absolute GOAT in the industry, mildly to extremely frustrating at times due to bugs and weird pc functioning.
Will never be another game like it or better, sorry Bethesda, we appreciate your trying <3 xoxox

When I first played this game I couldn't even leave the shallows. I was so scared that I think I tried swimming all the way to The Aurora, heard then saw the reapers and went back to my pod to never finish the game and just enjoy the peaceful chirps of the lovely peepers.

It didn't take me long before I tried again fresh after realising that I have a little bit of a fear of what's in the ocean in real life too and was determined to overcome that, at least in this game. My first full play-though was terrifying, long, hard and so rewarding. You really do feel like you've been crash landed on a planet with no idea of survival and an insatiable scientific curiosity for discovery.
This game is so incredibly immersive it's insane. The audio and music is next level amazing and the creativity put into the world building and unravelling of the story and the very practical way of levelling up and unlocking new areas and gear is so enjoyable.

I truly fell in love with the game, and played it through twice more just to get a taste of that feeling again and find better ways of progressing than the last.
Now I don't fear anything in the game nearly as much as I once did, as long as I save every 5 mins when exploring and don't enter the biological dead zones.

100% recommend. There's nothing else quite like Subnautica.

Beautiful game.
I was really enjoying it until a few hours in when I realised that the cabin upgrades were the main aim of the game progression wise. This would be fine if there was an endgame.

There isn't. I crafted most of what I needed and then realised that the cabin rooms were all different types of crafting options and I only really needed to build the crafting room, storage room, cooking room and sewing room. I came into the game hoping to be growing plants as well and now that I'm up to building the green room, there's no longer any kind of necessity in the game play for it. The game is basically over in less then 4 hours.

If you find all of the species of plants and most of the destinations like I have, continuing to slave at crafting when most plants you've discovered have next to no use, is reward-less.

I died after a hour of discovering the edges of the map and collecting all of the species. Even though i'd slept. Even though I'd survived for so long. None of that progress saved.

I've loved this game all of these months waiting to see the masterpiece it became only to find its been abandoned. If only they had kept working on it.

I become more dismayed with each game I play now. No one wants to make a meaningful game. If only it had been more like Firewatch; you're immersed but when you progress in the game there's story there a missing boy, a lonely woman, a divorced man, sketchy science stuff, teens mucking about.
This game could take all the scavenging and discovering and make it meaningful... but it just isn't after the initial excitement of finding all the different equally edible mushrooms.
Feeling empty after feeling so full for a few hours of game play. So much potential it hurts.

I'm loving the game so far but every time I return to the game or reload checkpoint my character gets suck and I can't progress I tried from the start but I don't see the point if every time I leave the game I'll get this same problem again please fix so I can enjoy this beautiful game.
I also got stuck behind a train door that the character opened but the door never moved thus making me reload the level returning to the frozen state.
EDIT: I have finished the game now. I've loved it. The perfect length of time played and a beautiful story that unfolds so delicately. 9/10
