The parry on the abyss watcher sword has as many parry frames as medium shields, aka, practically worthless, also the L1's are super backstabbable, except for the last one, which is extremely parryable. Use your R1's more and when you try to go for an L1, make sure you are directly in front of your opponent. Also never do the third L1 ever.
