"The Interview" is an important game. Upon playing this title many a thought crossed my mind and it made me ponder what the game wanted me to witness. "Adam" or what the game chooses to call Adam, is coming in for an important interview, one that ergo, might change the course of his life. As the interview begins, strange visions of surreal landscapes with a red box dead in the center appear in his mind. The person or entity in charge of the interview tries to get "Adam" to relax to the best of their ability but is only fruitful for a short period of time.

As the game continues you may see things that some people would consider unpleasent, therefore. Real uncensored gore and surgery footage is shown to the player or "Adam" and the game may argue for its artistic purpose but I will have to call some doubt on that notion however, for reasons I will get to later in this review.

As to not drag out this review with needless recounts of the game's plot ergo, I will keep it brief and skip to the ending, where it is revealed to the player that "Adam" is a murderer. I would spoiler tag this but I think you would be doing yourself a favor by never playing this game. The "little red box" that appears throughout the game is what "Adam" chooses to store his victims in for a reason I am not sure of. It doesn't really make sense that "Adam" doesn't know this either with how the events of the game unfold.

This game tries to spin on its head the notion that this is a police interrogation and not an interview as it initially suggests but I have a hard time agreeing with that. This game likes to pick and choose what Adam is mentally stable enough to comprehend for "thematic" reasons but in actuality is just lazy plot work. It makes no attempt to tell the story in an interesting way and would rather attempt to shock the viewer, but the only things shocking in this game were its horrifying attempts at trying to emulate The Stanley Parable and other games similar to it. Such as.

The game's story continues its ungraceful flail down a flight of stairs even after the credits roll, when they introduce a blue box, same in color to the chair opposite "Adam". What does this mean? What does this mean? What DOES this mean? I think if you had the chance to ask the creator they wouldn't even know. I can't even say if its a poor attempt at bait for a sequel because it literally means nothing to me and has no connection to what was established.

It is ergo shocking how therefore this game fails at so much within the span of only 10 minutes. This is not a game you or anyone for that matter should play. I could give a child a computer with Unity and a few tutorials and I bet they could concoct a better creation within the span of a few hours than this insulting excuse for a game. The fact the developer even had the gall to think that this was worth money when there are so many fantastic free indie games out there that overshadow this in every single way. Its unfair to even compare this to other games because this isn't a game. Its a joke. A really bad joke told by a really unfunny person. Its the kind of joke that obnoxious person that you can never seem to escape would make, but even then a joke from a person like that would probably have more structure, wit, and cohesive storytelling than "The Interview".

I added random "smart" word flourishes to this review for satire but do not mistake this for a satirical review in any way. This game offends me that its here on the steam store for 2 dollars when there are so many fantastic indie games on here that you could give your money to. I feel no shame in refunding this, and you should feel no shame in returning to the steam store page and forgetting this game's existence entirely. Ergo.
