9/10, I ran out of minerals like halfway through the game and never recovered but the game was amazing all the way. (TL;DR? Skip to the end)

FOREWORD: I played on REGULAR DIFFICULTY with NO ADDITIONAL CHALLENGES(Oxygen Meter, Weapon Degradation, etc). I also will not be talking about the graphics or details much, as I don't find them valuable in comparison to a well-made story or a well-thought-out crafting mechanic.

GAMEPLAY: The balance between looting, shooting, and hiding was amazing. With a little bit of effort, cleverness, and hearty use of GLOO, you could take down about anything.

STORY: A true masterpiece. Never in my life have I played a game where I questioned everything, from the environment to the characters to the story to even myself, and it was amazing the whole way through. EVERYTHING COMES DOWN TO YOUR DECISIONS. From the very beginning, there are no set paths, no railroaded entrances- as long as you made it to where the junk you needed was, there was no problem. Need the code to a lift to get up a tower? Not if you just scale the outside with ludicrous amounts of GLOO and a large amount of jumping. Need to get into a room, but you don't have the keycard? No problem! Smash a window, break open a vent, even just wait for a nearby operator to wander into the room and slip in with it.

CRAFTING MECHANICS: The crafting mechanic in this game is beautiful, both in design and function. Multiple times throughout the game, I would run out of a material, and between using the Recycling charges to turn random chairs and tables into useable crafting material and scrapping what little weapons I didn't need I never truely ran out of resources. This, paired with the incredible offensive strength of the Recycling Charge meant that I crafted a few(Read: about a million) of the things. Overall, the crafting mechanics were perfect for balancing fear of running low on resources and having enough material to choose between fighting back or hiding away.

COMBAT: I cannot say I was the best at combat in Prey, but it was satisfying nonetheless. Due to the limited nature of guns and lasers, I often chose to take a wrench to my problems or avoid them entirely. That being said, in Prey, you have a plethora of options to choose from as a weapon. From a souped-up laser pointer that explodes whatever it touches, to a literal Golden Gun, you had everything to choose from. You could go for a Lab-Tech build, and only use the most scientific of shooters to attack, or go back to old reliable and plant a shotgun barrel in the mouth of a Typhon. Overall, I think the similarity between some of the advanced Phantoms was a little annoying, as the only observable difference between the Thermal and Voltaic Phantoms in my playthrough was the conductivity of the Voltaic Phantoms damage aura and the range difference between the two, with the Thermal Phantom having a truly dinky range in comparison to the vast range and further conductivity of the Voltaic Phantom. As for everyone's favourite 3 Minute Monster, The Nightmare, I found it very... Weak, actually. With any sort of planning or quick thinking, you could rapidly turn the tables and line up a squad of turrets, hide in a vent and pop out to whack it while it recovers from shooting at you, or just hide behind a convenient door for 3 minutes while it makes depressed whale noises at you. At first glance, it deals monstrous damage, moves quickly, and can release a volley of homing explosives, but these can all be easily countered by a vent or lockable door. Heck, if I had planned it better, I may have been able to lock a Nightmare in a closet. That being said, the combat system is very well made, as you can make a multitude of choices to take care of, avoid, or outright turn enemies to friends. Each weapon has pros and cons, such as the shotguns incredible damage at the requirement of close range, to the pistol's precision and fire rate, with low damage and large ammo requirements for larger Typhon enemies.

CONCLUDING NOTES: This review dragged on, didn't it? Overall, I'd say the Prey was an amazing game. The Combat System was amazing, with the options and strategies open to you, you would never run out of ways to beat a Typhon to death(Or, avoid it entirely). As for crafting, the Recycling Charges and the Recycling System in general meant that picking apart the remains of a trash can never felt tedious or immersion breaking, like in some games where you could find 2 Shotguns, a Rocket Launcher, and enough ammo to use them all for days in a gym locker or filing cabinet. As for the Story of Prey, I loved the way that every decision you made had a clear and immediate effect on your time on Talos I. Overall, as stated at the beginning of this review, I give Prey (2017) a 9/10 for it's ludicrous detail in all manners, such as the fact that everything not nailed down can be used as a weapon or resource, the seamless transition between feeling safe and secure to watching a chair twitch and proceeding to attack every object in a 30m radius. I deducted one point from my Review due to the lacking nature of the field boss, and my personal problem with finding more Mineral Material during my playthrough.

That being said, I hope you had a good one, and thank you for reading my VERY long winded review of Prey (2017).

(TL;DR HERE! 9/10, amazing gameplay, amazing story, i had a skill issue so -1 point, play the game its good)

mamster cheef does some stuff, doesn't want to get married at least twice, and deals with a flooded basement or two.

also he gets into a lot of fights with the neighbours over religion, but they bury the hatchet eventually

10/10, and halo 4 was at most 0% of that

Don't play this. Get away before it sucks you in too! I'm not even 100 hours in on this account, but i have another that has multiple hundred and I can't stop... It's a buggy mess at times but so much fun..!

Good game, and barely ever gets old. The workshops a helluva place, though...

Enhances the Terraria experience by providing a great way for mods to be loaded, unloaded, and mix/matched to each player's preference. Overall great, much like the original game this is for. Hell, if you really felt like it, you could just play vanilla on this game instead of on the normal vanilla game.

Great game for spending hours getting loot with friends, with a laid-back story for the truly dedicated to find and piece together. Beware of people out to stab you for anything, though! The reputation bar isn't there for no reason.

Horror with a great amount of replayability. After all, you could have a chainsaw gun, a laser pointer on steroids, or even a good ol' assault rifle... Or all three and a flamethrower!

It's fun, and a total timesink that makes you feel like it isn't a timesink. In other words, a great way to pass the time.
