This game genuinely must despise its player base. Every update they frequently clear out people's campaigns and custom-battle made ships in every year across the whole game, and even reset the Naval-Tutorial levels. Several hours of gameplay they'll gladly delete just for the sake of an "update".

Additionally the user interface frequently has the AI-Ship setting in Custom-Battle taken out or added again almost every other major update (roughly 3 to 4 months), half the time without even warning the players they did it. Of course until they bombard them with bad reviews and bug-reports to bring it back because manually steering a fleet makes gameplay monotonous and disgustingly long when half the ships run away, spin in circles because their Ai-Rudder system can get bugged by the slightest disturbance, and just add more tedious mechanics like manually steering every battle group you have in play. Meaning combat more than four or six ships effectively a game of "pause-re'adjust-play-repeat".

Additionally every couple weeks they let out a minor update almost redo'ing the refit system, gun accuracy and pen tables, and even cost or ship weights. Of course, they're not going to let you grandfather a ship in that gets utterly demolished by said "minor" update in a Campaign, so looks like you have to write it off and start over, like every other update.

As a ship designer this is a great. But as a "game" you're supposed to play, it can't stop making its player base suffer for their own sheer lack of competence and total inability to communicate what they're doing.

Early Access Review
Unfulfilling, and boring.
I've been watching funny clips and highlights of this game for weeks, but actually playing it shows how quickly monotonous and tone-deaf it is. It's a game largely fueled by hype, and once understanding the mechanics it quickly loses any sense of enjoyment.

It gets even worse how little of a change each gameplay loop is. Minus run in and get scrap, there's essentially nothing to do in the game besides walk a maze and run from a monster. No, a shovel is not a creative solution. Especially when the max player capacity without mods is only 4, and half the monsters can one-shot you anyway or can't die at all.

After a half hour I'm already disappointed the only entertainment is dying. At this point I'd go play garry's mod if I wanted to watch people get creativity rag-dolled and at least do something else afterward besides the exact same thing immediately.

Great idea, but in execution it feels like the office-job of video games.

Absolutely the most amazing invention since the wheel, toast, and lightbulbs.
