Milsim game with enough leeway that it borders on sandbox milsim. Helicopter controls are very easy to learn but difficult to master and logistics gameplay can be taken up by anyone who is willing while simultaneously feeling impactful as resources are necessary for most actions. Chief complaints are that, in vanilla, guns can feel like pea shooters as it takes 2-3 bullets per enemy to go down, with a chance of them getting back up later on (this issue is largely rectified in mods where bullets actually seem impactful). Infantry gameplay is easy to pick up and lets you do a multitude of actions rather simply.

Overall, a game that largely lets you do what you want to do, instead of pushing you to follow a specific action or class.

Custom kits, highly moddable environment, and all actions being easy to learn while difficult to master lead to a game that truly lets you be the soldier you want to be.

Has a worse logistics and infantry system than competitors such as Arma Reforger. If you play dedicated logistics, you deprive the team of one of very few vehicles necessary to play logistics. If you play infantry, the gameplay feels unintuitive and more difficult in comparison to other milsim titles. If you play helicopters, you will actively fight to get the helicopter to do what you want it to do and god forbid you touch the ground a teensy bit too hard, you will combust into flames and kill everyone onboard.

No vehicle respawning, fixed loadouts, and gameplay difficulty through unintuitive design makes a game that is not worth the play.

Great game if you find a good server and/or have friends to play the game with. Otherwise, you could be left somewhat confused on what to do and struggling.

For first time players playing solo I recommend either loot-buffed servers and/or PVE servers to learn the ropes of combat and/or gameplay before jumping in standard.

fun game for any kind of player.

enjoy casual COD-style gameplay? play PVE with the AI set to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

enjoy milsim gameplay with slow tactics where you die without even seeing your enemy? play PVE with the AI set to OH DEAR GOD or play a PVP server filled with pros.

enjoy not being on the ground and taking to the skies? Become a close air support or air superiority fighter.

enjoy transporting people too and from the fight? Become a chopper pilot.

enjoy supplying the offensive? drive around a truck full of small arms ammo or drive a truck that repairs, rearms, or refuels vehicles.

enjoy fighting in an armoured behemoth? hop in a tank with a random crew or some friends and take on other tanks or fight infantry while praying to god you dont get either lasered by infantry for CAS or there isnt an AT ambush.

Thats probably just a few of the things you can do in Arma 3. If you want to fight a virtual war your way, with or without friends, then this game can work for you.

If you want to pet doggo and feed a cat in a small hotel this game unfortunately cannot fulfil this need.

Unless you plan on using WeMod, do not play this game. You will be limited in every actually damaging weapon and you will spend either half your bank account on crates to open them for a CHANCE at something new or good, or you wait 3 hours per crate for a CHANCE at something new or good.

Either have time or have money. Otherwise, use cheats to actually be able to have some level of fun in the game.

Fun game, especially on multiplayer. Even if you don't find PVP fun, there are still PVE servers that offer unique experiences that could be interesting. For me, this game is like Unturned on crack since its actually difficult.

triple the defense budget NOW! This game is great if you love having PTSD from fighting literal terminators with a solid military structure or if you love committing a massacre against a species of bugs from starship troopers.

Get this game if you want to fight a massive virtual war at your own pace, like Foxhole without needing friends or logistics.

Don't get this game if you are looking for a pacifist game where you pet dogs and cuddle cats. Here, you kill robots and burn bugs.

Enjoyed this thoroughly, unfortunately my autosave got corrupted or something and my latest manual save was an hour away so I didn't feel like replaying an hour of content. Still a great game. Think Half Life One but with far more features and (limited) destruction.

Coming from the first Red Faction, this one didn't have nearly as good gunplay. I could never seem to get the senstivity right for my mouse and something just felt off.

Honestly, I would recommend the first one over RFII.
