Honestly? This game goes hard.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going in—turn-based RPGs aren’t usually my thing—but this one’s got style and flair that kept me interested. The combat is wild. It’s turn-based, but you’re also dodging and parrying stuff in real time, so you’re never just sitting there mashing buttons. Felt kinda like Persona meets Dark Souls, but painted with oil and wine. Having the ability to customise every characters move-set to your style, with the skill-tree system, made me experiment way more than I usually do.

The world alone is stupidly gorgeous. Everything is dreamlike but not in a "wtf is going on" way—more like "oh ♥♥♥♥ that's cool"

With the story, you gotta pay attention to the dialogue and the pieces you collect along the way. Granted, It's not deep to the point where it's confusing, but the game revolves on it's story, so you do want to at least try to get a grasp on what's actually going on.

Anyway, if you like games that are a little weird, a little artsy, and a lot of fun—this one’s worth the trip. Would recommend. 33/33 would go on the expedition again.

I still load it up sometimes and go through the maps remembering the pure chaos, the demolition, the proxy chat shouts turning this $15 arcade block shooter into a placebo triple A game filled with nostalgia..

The delusional side of me sees early access still being highlighted, and thinking if they will come back when the money has run dry, but it won't feel the same even if that happened.

Rest in peace to one of the greats..you truly deserved a more capable and willing team to develop you and take you outside of a year worth of development.

I'm confused on why the DLC is listed as $90 but, anyone confused by this too, go click the actual game, this DLC is now integrated with the purchase, this is NOT the base game.

I can finally see how the reality of me and the boys wanting to be Youtubers in high school would've played out.

SOTF looks gorgeous, feels like a smoothly designed game and has alot of prime moments with friends, allowing this game to easily become fully fledged out in no time with community feedback and updates as per expected from the team.

This game will always have a survival element and feel that no other survival game that comes to mind has come close to matching, the fear factor of knowing you're basically 2-3 shot and can be ambushed at anytime will always give me that excite factor that keeps me on the edge of my seat, especially when you hear the tribal calls, you know ♥♥♥♥ is gonna get real really quick. Combine that with friends, and you've got a great time ahead, especially if you play at the right settings and don't just up the brightness and contrast and call it a day.


HOWEVER, I can't lie and say I have a major gripe about a few elements this game holds, I do wish to give some insight so future potential players know what to expect.

The map and story is what really does get me feeling a bit low about the game. Don't get me wrong, aesthetic and visual wise, it looks absolutely flawless. Put that aside however and you have a map with little caves that provide with you some rope, meds and after that just send you packing to the next POI. The most enthralling part of the cave system is when you find the larger caves that require combat, resource management and survival skills for the duration of the exploration. it does become stale as a solo game if you enjoy the solo survival aspect of games. I spent the longest time going without any sort of google search or forum reading with a friend so we could fully enjoy the game to its maximum, yet finding the shovel and having to learn about different keycard variants was already a task that proved beyond ridiculous to assume someone would just connect the dots and find the tools within a reasonable timeframe. The lack of logic with some crafting kits make no sense, what is stopping me from opening a can of food with a utility knife? Why can't I be told how to make health mix but I can make the +Version of it.

Can I recommend this game? Yes I can, only if you're willing to look past a few little nitpicks and a major gap when it comes to the variety of choices you have outside of just trying to do the main story.
