I really tried to give this game a chance, but it's just not fun.
It wants to have methodical souls-like combat, but the amount of enemy clutter on screen plus the sluggish movement makes attack telegraphs incredibly difficult to react to. Dying also reduces the durability of all your equipment on top of regular durability loss which is yet another tedious mechanic that bogs the game down.
The game is very aimless. I try to tackle the 1 skull fighting areas at the start but can barely make any progress before dying even with the companions. Since I can't complete any, I'm essentially barred from any noteworthy progress. The entire world is open from the get-go so you spend a lot of time wandering aimlessly trying to figure out what you can actually do. A simple starter dungeon would've made the introduction much smoother than just tossing you out in the world.
Fighting areas completely lock you out of your inventory. This has to be one of the dumbest design choices I've ever experienced. A simple compromise would be to only lock inventory in active combat which could allow you to adjust your setup between encounters instead of going in and simply hoping you have enough on you for the whole area.

The devs have passion which I can certainly appreciate, but this game ain't it man....

Edit: If the dev's butthurt response is any indication, don't expect this game's MANY design flaws to be fixed. Their terrible attitude is reason enough avoid this game as can be seen in their responses to negative reviews. Save your money.

THIS right here is what SaGa needs to be going forward. Hopefully, they abandon that terrible popup board game garbage from Scarlet Grace and Emerald Beyond.

Unfortunately, the dev caved to gender politics (aka mental illness) on top of locking threads and banning anyone that calls them out. Definitely won't be supporting this dev in the future.

Edit: Now reviews are being deleted. 6 negatives cut down to 4.

Early Access Review
Nice little gem of a game that has unfortunately flown under the radar. One of the two main routes is finished so you can still get a complete experience even during early access.

Fun throwback to ps2 era games. No unnecessary bloat, no political agenda, just straightforward action platforming.

The Mobius Machine needs more love. Definitely give this one a shot if you're looking for a more exploration-driven metroidvania.

This game needs some love. It has a unique approach to exploration utilizing blood vessels for seamless travel as opposed to fade transitions. It's also very nice to have a metroidvania with an actual straightforward story and not the usual soulslike "storytelling" mumbo jumbo. Really enjoyed the overall setting, music, and atmosphere. I just wish it could've lasted a little longer.

Orange/Neo Popcorn's best game so far. Most of the balancing issues of their previous games have been ironed out resulting in a much more even difficulty curve this time around.
