banger music, incredible story, fantastic controls, you can meow during cutscenes. 10/10 peak game

TL;DR: This game is an absolute masterpiece please play it.

This "demo" is the first half of the game, containing every episode right up until the common route splits off into each romance route (except for a few variants of the later chapters, most of which set up that split), so you'll definitely come away from it with a clear picture of whether you'll like the game.

And believe me, I bet you'll like the game.

The characters feel alive and genuine. Valerie's a wonderful protagonist whose unique viewpoint is very fun to see this world through, and each of her teammates are wildly varied and play off of her and each other really well. The writing's an amazing mix of high-stakes drama, laid-back slice of life, and hilarious comedy that uses the magical girl genre extremely well. The voice cast is perfect, and the occasional fully-voiced scenes are an absolute treat to listen to. The music is also really good, and I've absolutely looped a few of my favorites for hours. The story is incredibly intriguing so far, and I can't stop wondering about its mysteries. The mechanics of affection gains and losses are superbly done, and serve to flesh out the relationships between love interests as well as their relationships with Valerie. It has boys being stupid. I could go on and on.

This game is still in development, of course, so it's not quite perfect yet. But even still, it's already one of my favorite games ever.
