Has anyone you loved ever left you abruptly without saying a proper goodbye?
Yes someone I loved very much did leave without saying goodbye. In fact she didn't say anything at all. She never even said why. She just left.

It was torture. For the longest time I would wonder why. Did I do something wrong? Was there something wrong with me? How could she do this to me? It was cruel.

My self esteem vanished. The optimism I had always had gone. My love and appreciation of others non existent. My trust in women, dead.

So what did I do?

Nothing.

For a long while I did nothing. As excruciating as those emotions were I knew it would eventually fade. Even if it didn't feel like it.

Now, as far as closure. I never got it. In fact I'm not even sure what that means. Things are what they are, there is no closure as much as there is letting go.

The way I see it, letting go is the key. It's a difficult thing, but if we wait for something to happen for us to finally feel ok, we are going to suffer more than we need to. Don't wait for closure, seek it out if you must, but as soon as you know it's not going to happen anytime soon. Cut it off. Let it go.

Plan and make decisions.

Decide to love who you are.

Decide to accept that not everyone is obligated to love you and you don't need them to.

Decide to not hold on to negative feelings, because pain can make you stronger or it can break you. Take it from someone who knows, choose to be stronger.

Decide to see the positive in everything and everyone.

Make plans to replace the ones that will no longer happen. Once you do, forget the previous ones and work hard on the new plans.

Eventually, the situation will be but a distant memory.
