If you can name a social deduction game, I've played it. My favourite games of all time were social deduction games. With that, I can confidently say that THIS IS NOT a social deduction game. If you're playing this game for the social deduction aspects, you've picked the wrong game. This game's PVP system vastly overpowers any advantage from social deduction. The only time that this game plays out as a social deduction game is if you get a group of like-minded players who want to play for the social deduction aspects of this game, and create a private match. Otherwise, it will not play out like one.

In normal mode:
In lobbies with bronze thumb players (basically new players), the majority of them do not, and have not played social deduction games before, and there will likely be a few trolls or metagaming friends. It does not play out like a social deduction game. You will likely make it to the end as a survivor with a few minutes left, and then the traitors will attempt a last-ditch effort to win through PVP.
In lobbies with bad silver/gold thumb players (basically experienced players), the same is probably true with their experience in social deduction games. However, they are all a little bit more experienced, and as such, know that the game's PVP mechanics far overpower any social deception/deduction that someone might attempt, and as such, don't even try for it. The traitors go off into the wild and buff up with energy drinks, and slowly pick off survivors, because the survivors are barely coordinated here.
In lobbies with good players, the survivors all rush objectives, while the traitors buff up, preparing for fights. There is only PVP here. If you try sussing someone who is in the group, they will leave them alive, because one weak traitor is not very impactful if everyone just goes in a group.

The only alternative is Blackout mode, where I have sunk the majority of my hours. In this mode, there is only one traitor, who can convert the survivors. Due to the fact that the evil faction will inevitably grow larger, soon beyond the point where you can stop it, the survivors must attempt to employ social deduction. However, they do not, and as such, this gamemode has a 90% traitor winrate from what I've seen, the only survivor wins coming from experienced lobbies where the survivors mindlessly rush the objectives and win within eight minutes, or the traitor is new to the game, and doesn't understand how to play.

Needless to say, the only time where social deduction is required is if you want to actually have fun, which does not happen unless you play with friends.

Otherwise, this game is great for interacting with people, and finding new friends!
