I will explain the story of this game first you play as “Zagreus” son of Hades, prince of the underworld you live in Tartarus the capital of the underworld you wanted to find your mother because she leave you at birth but your father, Hades refuses to let you go up to the surface of Greece so you decided to break out of the most secured prison in Greek, the lands of the death can you escape or not is up to you.
In terms of gameplay, you have 6 weapons to choose from sword, spear, shield, bow, gauntlet, and gun. Each weapon has 3 variations to choose from and each variation provides different buffs to your attack or changes how you attack entirely. When you enter the game, you begin your escape the first thing that you’ll encounter is the power-ups these are called “Boons” from the gods of Olympus such as Zeus, Poseidon, Ares, Aphrodite, etc. Each boons also provides different buffs to your attack as well as the weapon but the boons kind of inflict debuffs or special attacks like your attack pushes enemies further, chains lightning, or adds chances of critical hits. Next is the health upgrade in this game they are called “Centaur Heart” it gives you 25 max HP but doesn’t heal you. For upgrading the boons, you can use the “Pomegranate” to upgrade your boons’ level for more damage or buffs. The in-game currency is called “Charon Obols” which are coins that you can spend at Charon to buy items in his shop such as boons, healing food, pomegranate, or centaur heart. Others are the currency that you can spend in the hub area like the darkness, nectar, chthonic keys, and gemstone. There’re bosses awaiting you at the end of each area in total of 4 bosses after you defeat them, you’ll get “Titan blood” which can be used to upgrade or unlock new variations of your weapons. If you died, you’ll be sent back to the hub area you can spend your darkness, nectar, chthonic keys, and gemstone here. I won’t get into the detail of all the mechanics and weapons of this game because in order to truly experience a game you should play it yourself.
The performance of this game is exceptional because it’s an indie game the graphic is top view isometric pixel art which fits the art style very much. The game can run up to 144 fps which compliment the high-speed combat style of the game. You don’t need a high-spec PC or laptop to run this game just an average one is fine. And you can also play on MacBook and Mac as well.
