As much as I love this game, I cannot recommend this expansion at its current state and price point.

With Beyond Light's launch we had half of the game "Vaulted". meaning, that content has been cut out of the game and is no longer accessible to the player. This Vaulting has destroyed arguably one of the most important aspects of the game, replayability. You could go as far back as to the 1st year of the game and find relevant and exciting content to go and do. Now, all that content is gone. Bungie has decided to remove 90% of the Year one content from the game and all of the Annual pass content from Forsaken, Pretty much cutting Forsaken's value by half.

As an added bonus, this has ruined the F2P aspect of the game. Before Beyond Light, F2P players got a good chunk of the game absolutely free of charge. This included the entirety of the base game and the 2 Year 1 Expansions. It was an absurdly good starting point that Included a variety of the content that the game had to offer. Spanning from Campaigns to Strikes and even going as far as having 3 RAIDS! (ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGE!) for you to go and try out.

Now, F2P players get a new and short Campaign that teaches them the basics of the game. It includes around 6~ "New" (Repurposed from Destiny 1) story missions that are pretty mundane, but do an alright job at setting the ground for the player. This Campaign however pales in comparecent to the Red War Campaign, the Vanilla Campaign that was available, and has been removed.

F2P players also lost all of their raids. Meaning there isn't any way currently to show a new player what a raid "is" without making them spend money for something they might not like
The game now feels more like Free 2 Enter, Rather than Free 2 Play.

I could go on, and on, and on about how much they took away with this expansion, this isnt even technically an EXPANSION since we lost more than we gained.

So what did we lose?


5 Raids. 7 Strikes. 11 Crucible Maps. 3 Campaigns. 4 DESTINATIONS! and much, much more.

How much did we gain?

1 Raid. 1 Strike. ZERO Crucible maps, 1 Campaign, 1 DESTINATION!

Does this look fair to you? May I remind you, some of the content that was removed was content that people PAID for in the past. Since when does my game come with an expiration date stamped on it?

If this is your first time buying an expansion for the game, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the Forsaken expansion. Although a good amount of content has been removed from it, It still has plenty more content than Beyond Light, is much cheaper than Beyond Light, and is an all-around good starting point for a new player.

Of course, the expansion is not all bad. the new Weapons, Armour, Destination, Raid, ELEMENT TYPE! are all very polished and I must give credit where credit is due, Well Done! I had a blast playing the expansion with my friends on launch week! it was all very exciting and we were all super pumped for the Raid Race. Now that the "Honeymoon Phase" is over though, the cracks are beginning to show.

I adore this game, I really do. I have been following it since its inception and have never given up hope. I was there in the darkest of times and let me tell you, this is one of their darkest yet. I hope Bungie manages to recover from this and delivers us some kick-ass content in the future. Me and my friends love this game and what it, and only it, has to offer.

good game

This game is amazing, the amount of work and love that was put into this is huge.
there are new updates every month to keep you coming back, and may i remind you, THIS GAME IS FREE!
It grew, from a game that looked like it was doomed to fail, but has sprouted into such a good game it is unbelivable.
Yes the first few hours might be a bit boring and the game might be hard at times but the amount of fun you're going to have is huge.
