AI broken, gameplay not fun. I don't want hand holding, but I don't want blackhole level obscurity as I try to play a game.

I absolutely adore the metro series. They are the golden era of post-apocalyptic story telling meets FPS to me.

Right now, game feels bad. Textures feel like Quest, not PCVR, performance feels terrible on 3090, and where the 3 previous metro games wowed me, this has left me disappointed.

The trailers look and feel WAY better than the game currently does; WAY better.

I'll likely buy again when this goes on sale and the kinks are worked out.

Also, the voices in the scene with Serdar and his wife at the beginning was drowned out by the pipes in the room. Even trying to be moved by the story, it just feels janky and FAR less immersive than any of the other Metro titles.

TLDR: just finished my first play through. The game really ramps up at the end, and you can feel it coming. When the final sequence rolled, I couldn't tell whether I was crying because of how compelling the sound track and final crescendo was, or because I knew that this meant the end of TLOU was nigh.

Performance: This game is exquisite. I have a 3090 EVGA RTX FTW, i7 - 8700k, running off an SSD and 16 gb RAM. I'm running game 4k 60-90 ish FPS throughout with DLSS performance. No crashes at all. Did I have to load shaders for just under an hour? yes. But only once (twice, technically, because I had to update my GPU drivers the next day).

Gameplay: Best part of the game? Every encounter can be approached in myriad ways. On my first play through, I'm mostly attempting stealth and then guns blazing when I get seen. Character development is TOP NOTCH here.

The game is in peak condition; a MUST buy it if you love linear story telling survival games. This is right up there with the Metro series for me.

Just the best; total classic.

Incredible co-op too!

A masterful remaking of a masterpiece; gorgeous and thoughtful.
Don't try anything less than Hard mode.

Running a 3090, I7-8700k, game ran very consistent 4k 90ish fps, very very few stutters (turned off motion blur, v sync, RTX on medium).

Game is incomparably gorgeous. The lighting, lens flares, level of detail in environment/enemies/yourself is actual incredible.

The gameplay is engaging at first, but I found the combat boring after an hour.

Another review said it rightly this way, "Dead space the necromorphs were walking weapons and you didn't want to get close to them. Here, the combat is primarily melee (the guns feel week incomparison, and the game's combat is MEANT to be mostly melee) and you are therefore, not scared to get close to them.

This game seems great in many respects, but not 87$ great for me.
I'll leave it on my wishlist and pick it up at the first sale.

Also, props to the devs for releasing a patch so quick that the reviews went from 32% positive to 51% in first 48 hours.

It's overwhelming to have to choose: green or red thumb? I honestly don't know which.

Spent 8k hours so far. Some people are nice, I play with them as much as possible and really enjoy it.

A lot of people are racist, judgemental, bitter and/or brutally unkind.

Will I regret spending so much of my life on this game? There is a high likelihood. Also, game is genius and there is nothing like it.

Absolutely incredible mod. I can't speak highly enough of this; it's second only to HLA in VR currently.
A FULL LENGTH very well modded first person survival shooter.

It's so good, and it's FREE (if you have HL 2 already).

I really want to like this game, I really do. It looks great in so many ways.
The main problem is in the minutia of interactions, lack of clarity in them, and the small steps you need to take that are sometimes blurred by glitches.

When I have to youtube how to solve a puzzle once (because the interaction required is so unclear), sure, that's fine.
But when I'm running to youtube every 5 minutes, it gets really annoying.

And you can't tell if it's your fault, or glitches half the time.

Lastly, there isn't an ounce of combat (which the trailer didn't promise in droves, but I expected a little.
This is like a better looking maskmaker, but some items have functions (if you spam trigger on every item you pick up, eventually you'll find one that does).

For example, when you have to clean the picture of the Russian, there are about 6 cleaning objects in the room: a toilet brush, a sponge under the sink, lysol spray, soap bottle, laundry detergent bottles, two sinks, etc. You need to find a specific spray bottle and push trigger when you have it (all the other listed items have no function if you trigger while holding them). It's all rather frustrating, and now I'm past the 2 hour steam refund policy and forced to try to finish it through watching youtube videos.

The game needs a lot more payoff.

This game is amazing; my partner does not game at all and she is able to enjoy it.
There has only been one very hard moment so far, the rest are all of an achievable difficulty.

Absolutely stellar game, great voice acting, incredible animations (running 4k 120 hz on 3090, no problems).
Would highly recommend!
