So first thing cuz negative reviews all say this is an issue - From the start of the game, without doing anything other than pressing play on steam, my playstation controller worked perfectly. Now for my actual thoughts. Story is solid and everything is voice acted, a lot of it is pretty funny whether in a haha way or lol that was corny. Combat is really satisfying and fun especially as you progress through the game and gain access to more powers, skills and potion upgrades. The game is about 25-30 hrs long as a story with roughly 15-20 hrs of side content. For people who compare it to BoTW, bad comparison in my opinion. Yes similar-ish game I suppose but I think it's disingenuous and unfair to Fenyx as it's a good game that stands on it's own merits.

I almost listened to all the negative reviews, but I'm glad I didn't. The game is really fun, and I have not ran into any issues like bad FPS or disconnects, and I do not have the greatest rig. I have a 1070Ti and a i7 8700 and my game runs pretty smooth on normal graphics settings, which is fine for me as the game looks great without trying to go Ultra high 1000 fps super enthusiast need them rays being traced 8k 4 monitors into 1 big'n type of stuff...Ya know?

Gameplay wise I know they are adding more mission variety and maps as the beta progresses to launch so thats cool, as there are only a few for the first couple days. I hope over time they do some gun and class tuning, as some guns, namely the shotgun doesn't feel powerful but you are super strapped on ammo (50ish rounds), and then a pistol with 400 rounds will do the same damage.

As for classes, I play the preacher and it's a close combat melee focused class and the ability is just like a dash. I match with the magic caster and their ability appears not to have a cooldown and just like brain blast one shots any nonboss mob they select, which seems kinda OP and trivializes some things. Don't get me wrong, love having one or two on the team cuz they yeet the elites off the map but very non interactive. They have another ability i think in place of their grenade, which seems like it does a lot more than everyone elses grenade as well. Take it with a grain of salt cuz I don't know the classes weakness since I don't play it.

I'd like to start by saying this game is actually quite fun, the concept, mobility, and abilities that aren't over the top. With the being said this game, I can't recommend it seriously because like every other Free To Play PVP game its rampant with cheaters. All you have to do is queue up solo and watch the eventual winner with 20-30 kills (The entire lobby is 41 btw) run around the map not caring at all if they have cover or not, auto headshot everyone in their path so matter what gun or at what range. It's funny when spectating cuz you can see the bullets travel and every single one center of the face, meanwhile they are jumping all over the place and spinning in circles. The developers will come in and say "Oh we are readying up a ban wave", but it's a free game, no one cares they just make a new steam account. I have played like 10 duo's (didn't spectate the ends) and 10 solo games, and all but 1 solo game the eventual winner was a cheater. Don't get me wrong, you can have some fun but unless you have your own aimbot good luck to you.

disclaimer *Bought it 50% off during a steam sale* AND I have played like 30+ additional hours offline (not just the 10 it shows) - I was hyped for this game at launch, waited because so many negative reviews were coming in. A lot of those negatives that i read were being truthful about the game and the things they felt were bad, and I'm kinda frustrated with myself for not buying the game because of someone else's tantrum. The game is exactly what I had imagined it to be before launch and I'm enjoying it. It's a huge world that at times you can feel how empty some of it is...but that hasn't bothered me. Crafting is confusing the first time you do it but thats it, and it is so much fun making weapons. The combat is super fun if you choose to make it fun; you can just run in circles and shoot your gun to kill stuff but that's boring, get in there do some melee combos, air combos, throw in a spell or two, mix it up just cuz you can - not because its easiest. The dialogue is terrible but the story is so basic that you can just skip it all...Basic story not a bad thing for me. I love games where you can just explore to your hearts content, and that's what this game is. You don't have to wait for X quest to go to Z place, you don't have to kill Boss A before you kill Boss B, you can ally with Joe then ditch him for Chuck later.

TLDR - I like it, it's simple, it's basic, the combat is fun if you make it fun, and its super open and free. Downsides - dialogue is bad. Better than anything EA or Activision has made in the last decade.

The game is kind of a hot mess. I think I've played like 3% of my games with a full fireteam. It disconnects people from the game for no reason, even if they're in your party, then the game makes you play with less people, it doesn't try to rematch another player in, and if you leave to try again you get banned.

Editing my review to a negative, although I enjoy playing the game, in the state it is in it just is not worth it. Just pick John, don't bother with any other hero it's just not worth it. John has zero downsides, there is no penalty for just sprinting around in circles so ranged heros just can't kill you, then boom John is on top of you and u are dead. Just play 4 Johns or 4 Tookes or 4 NON RANGED heros and you win, it's that simple. Marianne is a great concept and her only upside is if your team is already in the lead, you just hide in a bush and assassinate people; your team is not in the lead? well you are basically just a training dummy. Robin you only get 7 shots and they are hard to hit cuz unless you are dealing with another ranged champion, the Johns and Tookes are just going to run in circles. Stamina drain needs to be increased like 500-600% on melee heros for sprinting cuz right now there is no reason not to play them.

This game is fantastic, all the neg reviews are from kids who took 1-5 hours to play and gave up.

This game has a pretty big learning curve. I have played almost 50 hours, have come in 2nd a number of times but never won in solo. Have won in duos. I will say that winning in this game beats any other sentation from a video game...ever. Literally me and my friend just stared at the screen freaking out that it had happened...55 rounds of hard earned victory. So if you want to challenge yourself and enjoy it - this is the game for you.

Aw darn I died! Oh well time to be in the thick of it again in roughly 90 seconds. If you're good a game can take 20-30 minutes, but if you're learning it could be 1-5. But the best thing is if you die early you can be back at it in less than 2 minutes.

Sometimes you and the server don't get along well. That's okay just leave and get into a new one and you'll be okay.

So many good things to say about this game and it'll only get better. Buy in now, practice, get better, and grow with the game. I love it cuz everyone is on level playing field, 95% of everything is random. Theres no head glitching like EVERY FPS game, so although you can't do some gay ♥♥♥♥, neither can the guy in that building or behind that rock.

If you don't take the time to get good and don't like it cuz its hard and you stank, don't leave neg reviews - just go about you day and play starship princess party or whatever - this is where real men are born.
