(TL:DR)In short, the game dragged on and I couldn't skip any of it. Glitches abundant, Content not.

In long, You follow a story of 9 teenage camp counselors you find yourself wondering what could go wrong and what could go right! In a spooky forest of lust, fear, and maybe even bravery you follow the adolescents through their journey to make it out alive. Or even solve a bigger issue?? That's up to you. Will they survive? Will they die? Will they sacrifice themselves or will they leave their friends for dead? Who can you trust? And what will you choose?

This is a review for the game The Quarry and for me, the first 5 minutes made me follow a story of around 8-9ish counselors and I found myself wondering why the hell would I buy this for $60. The reason it's so hard to find the correct number of counselors is that 90% of the game has the teens split up in this massive woodland area, inhabited by humanoid creatures that these idiots won't stop calling a bear. At some points however I found myself laughing with the characters and bonding with the choices i made, most of the time though i found myself wincing through the 2nd hand embarrassment, begging the actors to go off script and wondered “Why the fk did they say that? That's not what I picked!”

While two of the teens I was able to call relatable and even wanted to save on screen, most were sarcastic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or just plain ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who would antagonize their “friends”, make stupid decisions, and for even one of them, get most of them KILLED. Now, a horror movie, and in this case game, cannot happen without stupid people. However when a grown man is trying extremely hard to push you off his estate before the night comes and you deliberately make it so you'll stay, yeah that's not stupid, that's straight natural selection. Now this is a story game and considering the story alone, it isn't terrible. It would have earned a play through from me either way and I even quite enjoyed it. However for me there's just too much that clogs the story down. The audio cuts and glitches, the non-stop annoying dialogue, the sexual innuendos that just make you uncomfortable, the plot holes and especially the camera angles. Now even with all the complaints and groans, the story held my attention, for when it peaked it reminded me why I absolutely love thrillers! The detective work, the Quick choices I had to make and the sacrifices that the characters endured lured me in. The glitches and especially the black screen tested this however but I eventually pushed forward and completed the main storyline. Excited to jump back in to replay some of my choices, conflicts and even combat encounters, I was met with unskippable dialogue and unskippable cutscenes, i was also met with the choice to either play the whole chapter anew, rewriting my save OR a new game. confused and even a little heartbroken, I decided to give movie mode a go! With a few choices such as Everyone dies, everyone lives and even a director mode, once again the thriller loving nerd was extremely excited. But to no surprise I was met with again, unskippable cutscenes. And unskippable dialogue. No game I do not want to sit through the prologue in movie mode where the tension is at an all time low. Thanks though.

The Quarry is a story game with less than important choices, has an aggravating replay mode and a less than interesting movie mode, the graphics are fantastic until a character appears on screen at that point it was like watching CGI of 2015. The story and SOME of the dialogue had me intrigued and even invested. However most of the dialogue had me wishing there was a skip button.

Even with the story elements and the beautiful atmosphere, the game still barely reaches a 4/10.
