This game has alot going for it and great potential, however I've run into a couple of problems.
Just to clarify I've been playing RTS and turn based strategy games most of my life, so I hope my opinion will help.

Pros:
- Great cinemtaic combat animations, you can see care has been taken with them. Great voice acting for the most part

- A linear story that still allows you to feel you're steering it's direction through in game choices.

- The fun logistical challenge of managing your time and resources between your ship and Grey knights, it gives a true sense of desperation and urgency, couple this with event decisions and it adds weight to every choice you make.

- A new style of gameplay that awards aggressiveness not seen often in the turn based genre, forces you to really think about your next move.

Cons:
- UI seems a bit much for me, there are options to turn some components off but there is just far too much going on.

- Enemies never seem to stop coming on most missions, and do too much damage. Little cultists can leave a big dent in you with machine guns even with Terminator armour. I was only playing on normal and I'm used to playing Turn based games on the hardest difficulties. Safe to say I wasn't feeling like a Space Marine.

- Wound times are far too long, especially for how easy they are to acquire. 40+ days to recover my grey knights, after I had to make an in game decision it increased their recovery time by a further 50%

- Buggy in some places, there are freezes and FPS drops. Doesn't seem well optimised atm but I'm aware this is an issue that will likely be fixed. I've had no crashes yet.

Summary:
In conclusion Chaos Gate has alot going for it, it's tried to break the mould and be different from other turn based strategy games and it's working. Enemies defintely need their damage or numerity tweaking, it needs some quality of life improvements and optimisation. But at the foundation is a really good game that you can tell has been made with care by people who love Warhammer.

I hope this helps 🙂

The Microtransactions in this game are absolutely Egregious. DO NOT support this disgusting business practice.

About £10 just to buy the colour purple on one piece of armour? Hardly any free unlockable cosmetics and not even a free earnable in game currency to at least grind towards to get a couple of paid pieces for free.

I won't knock the gameplay, Halo has taken a new direction but all games eventually need to to survive, it's just ashame that the blatant cash grab of a store is ruining it.

I urge you, DO NOT spend any money on this game until they fix these ridiculously overpriced Microtransactions. It's bad enough they're in a Halo Game in the first place

The only complaint I have about this game is that they didn't make a second one

Easily my Favourite CRPG next to Baldur's gate 3, funnily enough they're made by the same company!
A deep and enriching story full of lore, plenty of classes, spells and weapons to choose from and a very fun and rewarding combat system.

The amount of effort Larian puts into their games is obvious from the get go, they really care about their community.
Please consider giving this game a try

I've played this game for hours on end on xbox, decided to get it again now I've moved to PC. I really don't think it deserves the hate it got especially after it was fixed.

the game offers vast customization, lots of varied game modes, a fairly lengthy campaign and a very true to lore experience. things like the pulse rifle and smartgun sound amazing, and the film grain effect adds that 80's feel.
It offeres so many things that people are complaining games these days don't offer, the sad thing is it's completely dead. I hope to see it revived

Early Access Review
Fantastic WW2 Squad based game, relies on teamwork and communication to succeed which really brings people together. A great and much more realistic break from the COD franchise and other such games for a fraction of the price. If WW2 is your thing definitely pick it up!

I've been playing this game since very early on, and at first it was an extremely buggy game. But what a comeback it has made! I've sank more hours into this game than any other on steam, and in my book if you want a great historical RTS it's well worth it.
