Absolutely excellent.

Combat is as fun and addictive as Sekiro. The mechanics and movement are great (not quite Ori level but up there)
Exploration is cool and the game doesn't hold you back or limit your abilities too much
There's quite a compelling story here too

I love it

Ori & The Will Of The Smiths is, quite simply, a masterpiece.

These kinds of games (platformers/metroidvanias) don't really click for me generally speaking. I've tried the best of the best and never felt compelled to play for more than a few areas but this game is just 10 levels above anything else I've tried.

Where most similar games seem so reluctant to give you fun abilities until well into the game, Ori just can't quit handing you fantastic mechanics. Every single time you assume you've seen it all the game just turns around and throws another perfectly tuned & polished mechanic at you and says "Go on, see what you can do with that now"

Hollow Knight had me reluctantly backtracking through well-trod territory trying to work out where to go and what to do. Ori had me beaming ear-to-ear, dashing and bashing my way through the scenery like a monkey loving every second of it. I barely fast-travelled because why bother when movement alone is so well-polished and so fun.

The story is gorgeous and the soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard. Every single biome is complete with a strong musical theme, gorgeous visuals, unexpected friends & foes and dense atmosphere.

This is easily one of the best games I've ever played

Early Access Review
It's exactly what I've been hoping for for years. Incredible achievement for a small dev to pull this off.
The graphics are gorgeous, the systems are intricate & deep yet user-friendly, the music is vibrant.

All-round excellent game with lots of promise.

Grab a copy and support this dev because this is a rare gem

Meditative deconstruction simulator with an entertaining dystopian subplot

One of those perfect zone-out and tick all the boxes kind of games

I adore this

A phenomenal breakthrough in RPG storytelling. I've never played a game that has come remotely close to this kind of depth and intrigue (Closest I've played would be Witcher 3). I'm no DnD player either; just figured I'd see what all the fuss was about and I'm so glad I did.

If you're reading this and wondering if you need to be a DnD or Baldur's Gate fan already the answer is no. Get ready to google a whole bunch of stuff; I didn't even know what half of the mechanics were but the game is user-friendly once you get the hang of it.

Don't even stress too much about your initial build as respec is possible later too.

Never been used to huge moments hinging on the roll of a dice but also never played a game with such meaningful player input. It truly is a triumph and a story that could really only ever exist in the medium of videogames. Try not reload too much though as it makes the dice lose it's impact.

To paraphrase another review here "the game has the unique ability to make you consider your next playthrough while on your current one" - it truly does. I will have hundreds of hours of fun with this game

Definitely get in if you're considering it, you'll love it

10/10 GOTY, calling it now

Brilliant, grim, gritty.

Really scratches that medieval depression itch
The world is in ruins so you stick to the lowroads & forests. Camping and sleeping where you can.

Living honestly if you're able, stealing some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chickens if you can.

24hrs in and my favourite character was surrounded and killed in battle. I could only look on in horror. We slew that group of bandits, laid my dear Kvothe to rest near a pristine riverbed and trudged on up the road.

10/10
